00:00So what's going on?
00:02Slink, talk to me.
00:03Hard to hear. A lot of commotion.
00:05Welcome to Ms. Mojo.
00:07And today, we're counting down our picks for the things you missed in Toy Story 5.
00:11Expect more than a few spoilers.
00:14Mom brought us inside after that tantrum Blaze had and we never saw you again.
00:17Oh, so tell me, tell me. What did I miss?
00:20Number 10. The Pizza Planet Truck.
00:22Oh, all this packing makes me hungry. What would you say to dinner at, uh...
00:26Pizza Planet?
00:27Pizza Planet? Oh, cool!
00:29Let's start with an obligatory classic.
00:32Like the Luxo Ball and A113,
00:35the Pizza Planet truck has been a Pixar staple since the original Toy Story.
00:39It's appeared in every sequel, with the fifth installment being no exception.
00:43Staging a third-act rescue, Jessie leads a cavalry of toys down the road.
00:48Come on, Bullseye!
00:49Hey, wait for us!
00:52Car!
00:53The toys all freeze as the familiar 1978 Gyoza Mark VII light hauler zooms past them.
01:00In an age of drone delivery, it's good to know that Pizza Planet is still employing human delivery guys.
01:06Buzz!
01:07Is that alright, huh?
01:08Yeah.
01:08Thanks for the directions, okay?
01:10Number 9. Buzz Meets Bambi.
01:13You know, just the other day, I was talking to myself about you, and we were wondering what had become
01:21of you.
01:21Pixar is known for referencing other Pixar movies, although Toy Story 5 branches out to the studio's mouse-eared overlords.
01:29In addition to name-dropping Disneyland, the filmmakers couldn't resist referencing Bambi as a group of buzzes finds themselves lost
01:36in the woods.
01:37Coming face to face with a deer, rabbit, and other woodland critters, we can hear the Oscar-nominated Love is
01:43a Song.
01:43Love is a song that never ends.
01:52According to director Andrew Stanton, they not only pulled the music from Bambi, but the filmmakers recreated the lighting and
01:59art direction in the scene.
02:01The buzzes become one with nature until man arrives in the forest, ushering in another familiar theme.
02:07Thankfully, no animals are harmed, although the buzzes were totally ready to use those camping items as makeshift weapons.
02:15Yeah, but I guess I'll do alright.
02:18Number 8. D-A-N-Y.
02:21Jesse and Bullseye might be Bonnie's toys now, but they still have Andy's signature.
02:26Yee-haw!
02:28Oh, Bullseye, we're part of a family again!
02:32In one of the second film's most memorable visual gags, Bullseye lifts his hooves, proudly displaying the name of his
02:39owner, D-A-N-Y.
02:41Oh, sorry, got a little mixed up there.
02:43While Bullseye is quick to correct his mistake, this isn't the last time he gets the letters out of order.
02:48Oh, that's funny, Bullseye!
02:51In the blink of an eye, Bullseye once again presents his hooves in Toy Story 5.
02:56Instead of spelling out Andy, though, Bullseye accidentally puts D at the front of the line.
03:01Wouldn't it be funny if one day, Bullseye gets another owner who happens to be named Danny?
03:06Danny Rojas, approach.
03:08Let's go, let's go, let's go.
03:11May your secret sign reveal himself.
03:13Number 7. Greta Lee's AI Connection
03:16There's a package for you!
03:18Oh, thank you, thank you!
03:19Hi there, I'm Lillipad.
03:22Let's play!
03:22Greta Lee provides the voice of Lillipad, the tech that challenges the toys in Bonnie's room.
03:27The role isn't a stretch for Lee, who has voiced an AI companion before.
03:32In Spider- Into the Spider-Verse, Lee was first heard as Lila, who accompanies Spider-Man 2099, a.k
03:39.a. Miguel O'Hara.
03:40Lila had a more prominent role in Across the Spider-Verse, assisting Miguel with her signature snark.
03:45Lila, can you please, you know...
03:48Nah, you gotta say it first.
03:50Call for backup.
03:51What?
03:51Call for backup.
03:52Come on.
03:53Please just call for...
03:54Yeah, I already called her.
03:55But I enjoyed that.
03:57Could Lillipad be the Pixar universe's equivalent of Lila?
04:00In any case, AI has strangely followed Lee throughout her filmography,
04:04whether she's taking on Encom in Tron Ares,
04:07or showcasing a demo gone off the rails in the morning show.
04:11Stella.
04:11I'm racist.
04:12Turn it off.
04:13Am I a bad person?
04:14Can a bad person be in love?
04:16Turn it off.
04:17I look at Miles, and I can't decide.
04:23Oh!
04:25Oh!
04:25Oh!
04:26Oh!
04:27Is it really you?
04:27Is it really me?
04:28Oh my goodness, you look great!
04:30The double A team is back!
04:31Conan O'Brien officially joins the Toy Story franchise as Smarty Pants,
04:36a toilet training toy that refuses to be flushed away.
04:39While Conan's voice is instantly recognizable,
04:42the comedian's defining feature has always been his trademark red hair.
04:46They came to my office and they said,
04:48we want to pitch you on being in Toy Story 5.
04:50And I said, let's hear it.
04:52And they said, you're a device that trains two-year-olds how to use the potty.
04:57And I said, where do I sign?
05:00I want in.
05:01Smarty Pants might not have hair, but when a child is playing, anything's possible.
05:06Breaking out some old and new toys, Blaze crafts a spy narrative with Smarty Pants looking suave.
05:12In Blaze's fantasy, Smarty Pants even has a head of untameable red hair just like Conan's in real life.
05:18For the first time, Blaze also gives Bullseye a speaking voice,
05:22and he sounds suspiciously like an evil Alan Cumming.
05:26Oh, I've got a surprise for you, I forgot.
05:28Oh, you do?
05:28Yeah, you know how last night on the show you had a thing saying,
05:31oh, I wish they'd send me an iPod.
05:32Yes.
05:33A video iPod.
05:33Yeah.
05:33Guess who called me up today or emailed me?
05:35Who?
05:36Apple.
05:37And they're going to send you a new video iPod.
05:38Yes!
05:40Wait a minute, I think that's illegal.
05:42Number 5.
05:43Search Your Feelings
05:45Upon encountering his high-tech counterparts, Buzz drops a couple of bombshells.
05:50Buzz Lightyear to Star Command.
05:51I've got an AWOL Space Ranger.
05:53Tell me I wasn't this deluded.
05:55Don't backtalk.
05:56I have a laser and I will use it.
05:59You mean the laser that's a light bulb?
06:01The other Buzz's take it fairly well upon learning their toys,
06:05and their purpose is to help kids in need.
06:07They're less ecstatic to hear that the evil Emperor Zurg is their dad.
06:11This was previously established in Toy Story 2,
06:14with one of the funniest I Am Your Father parodies ever.
06:17I'll never give in!
06:19You killed my father!
06:21No Buzz.
06:22I am your father.
06:25Noooo!
06:28The fact that Andrew Stanton voiced Zurg was also a nice touch.
06:32Toy Story 5 borrows another famous Star Wars quote,
06:35as the Buzz's are told to search their feelings.
06:38Hey, it could be worse.
06:40Imagine if Zurg were an older version of Buzz from another timeline.
06:43I hardly recognize you, Buzz.
06:46All these new ideas.
06:49You know what?
06:51We'll go ahead and erase those too.
06:53Yeah, we guess Pixar's kind of pretending that never happened.
06:57Number 4.
06:58Acknowledging a plot hole.
07:00The first Toy Story has a lapse in logic that many have brought up.
07:03Now you're an accent figure!
07:05You are a child plaything!
07:09You are a sad, strange little man, and you have my pity.
07:13Buzz thinks he's a real space ranger.
07:15So why does he freeze like a toy whenever humans are around?
07:19Pixar's CCO Pete Doctor even addressed this, saying quote,
07:22In the end, nobody cared.
07:24Since that's not the most satisfying answer,
07:27Toy Story 5 attempts to finally explain.
07:30We've got it handled.
07:31Look, star, deputy.
07:34No star.
07:35When the Buzz's first encounter a human, they lie still.
07:38After the human leaves, the Buzz's question why they froze.
07:42While none of them is sure, they conclude that it's safer to avoid humans.
07:46The Buzz's might not be aware of their true nature, but that doesn't stop their toy instincts from kicking in.
07:52This clears up why the O.G. Buzz played along with Andy.
07:56Went from out of the sky like a farm comes some little pumpkin rockin'.
08:01Number 3.
08:02Shack Toys.
08:03Jessie meets several forgotten toys in Blaze's shack.
08:06Among them is Combat Carl, with Ernie Hudson taking over for the late Carl Weathers.
08:11Since this is a tea party, it appears Carl got the Mrs. Nesbitt treatment.
08:25The background characters provide more insight into what exactly counts as a toy in this universe.
08:31We suppose a xylophone could become sentient if it has a giraffe's face.
08:35Inflated or deflated, a pool toy is still a toy, too.
08:40The standout is a garden gnome, which is more of a lawn ornament, but can still technically be played with.
08:52This isn't the first time that lawn gnomes have been canonized as alive in this world.
08:57Ham was neighborly with the gnome next door in Toy Story 2.
09:00The lawn gnome next door says it's not in the yard, but he'll keep looking.
09:04Number 2.
09:05Lillipad Screen.
09:07Hi!
09:07What the?
09:08Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you.
09:10Sleep mode, you know?
09:12No?
09:12Eh, forget it.
09:13Pay close attention to Lillipad's screen, which contains several easter eggs throughout the film.
09:19When first conversing with Jessie, Lillipad scrolls by a photo of the ocean, a nod to Andrew Stanton's feature directorial
09:26debut, Finding Nemo.
09:27Wow, the big blue.
09:30What's it like?
09:31Um, big and blue?
09:34I knew it!
09:35Lillipad pulls up an image of Jessie on EBIT, an online store that first popped up in the TV special
09:40Toy Story of Terror.
09:42One of Bonnie's contacts has a beaver avatar, as well as a tablet with a beaver's appearance, alluding to Hoppers.
09:49Oh, hey!
09:50Twirl!
09:51Uh, yeah?
09:53Uh, do you know where I could find a beaver?
09:56Well, you're a beaver.
09:57Oh, yeah, I guess that's true.
10:00Another girl has an avatar and tablet modeled after a bluebird, much like the one in the Oscar-winning short,
10:06For the Birds.
10:07Keeping the tradition of teasing the next Pixar film, one of Lillipad's apps hints at 2027's Gato.
10:13Nero, focus.
10:15I'm sorry.
10:15Hmm.
10:17Oh, I want it.
10:18Oh, oh.
10:19I would also like to do that.
10:21No!
10:21Number 1.
10:22A theory officially debunked.
10:24Wouldn't you give anything just to have one more day with Emily?
10:28Come on, Jessie.
10:29This is what it's all about.
10:31In 2014, John Negroni presented a fascinating fan theory, suggesting that Andy's mom is Emily, Jessie's original owner.
10:39After all, we never learn Andy's mom's first name, she'd be around Emily's age, and Emily had a red hat
10:45like Andy's.
10:46At the same time, some argued that Jessie would have recognized Emily if she were Andy's mom.
10:52Even though you're not moving, you feel like you're alive, because that's how he sees you.
11:00How did you know that?
11:01Because Emily was just the same.
11:04She was my whole world.
11:07Toy Story 5 confirms once and for all that Emily and Mrs. Davis aren't the same person.
11:12In a flashback, we get a better look at Emily, who has red hair.
11:16A bit of a retcon there.
11:18It's also revealed that Emily had a daughter, whom she named Jessie.
11:22That got us crying.
11:24But unless Andy's mom has a secret second family, we can put this theory to rest.
11:34Did you catch any easter eggs in Toy Story 5?
11:37Let us know in the comments.
11:38To see you there's always a message.
11:38You're welcome, Coach Claw corners.
11:44We can see her left jede têm acum.
11:44Close-to-bye, from the beginning to this field, we still'll continue to solve.
