Artificial Intelligence is transforming medicine, but new research warns of hidden risks. A European study found that doctors who rely on AI during colonoscopies detect fewer tumors when AI is not available. This 6% drop may sound small, but it could impact thousands of lives. Experts say the future must balance human skill with AI support. Watch as host Humza Sabir on Positive Post explains why technology and humanity must work side by side for safer, stronger healthcare.

00:00Welcome to Positive Post. I'm your host, Hamza Sabir.

00:09and thought-provoking stories. Artificial intelligence is changing the world of medicine
00:15every single day. From faster diagnoses to better treatment planning, AI has given doctors tools
00:21that can save lives. But a new study from European researchers reminds us that while AI can be
00:27powerful, it can also bring unexpected risks. The study looked at colon cancer detection.
00:34Colonoscopies are one of the main ways doctors find early signs of this cancer.
00:38In Poland, doctors tested how AI could help them during this procedure.
00:43At first, the results seemed encouraging AI tools were able to highlight hidden polyps,
00:48improving detection rates. But here's the surprising twist, when doctors later performed
00:54colonoscopies without AI support, their own detection rates actually dropped. In fact,
01:00tumor detection fell from nearly 28% to about 22%, a 6% decline. That may sound small, but experts
01:08say
01:08even 1% can affect thousands of lives. So what's happening here? Researchers believe that doctors,
01:15after becoming used to AI, may have begun to rely on it too heavily. When the AI was removed,
01:21their own focus and attention weakened. It's almost like the human skill was quietly fading while the
01:27machine was doing the work. Dr. Harvey Castro, an expert in AI and healthcare, called this study very
01:33important. He explained that while AI can improve detection, it should never replace the human eye.
01:40Medicine, at its heart, is still a human profession. The judgment, instincts, and careful observation of a
01:47doctor remain irreplaceable. The message is clear, AI is not the enemy. It's a tool. But just like any tool,
01:56it needs to be used wisely. The best future in medicine is not man versus machine, but man with
02:02machine working side by side to save lives. With balance, training, and oversight, AI can strengthen
02:08doctors instead of weakening them. So, what do we learn from this story? Technology is powerful,
02:15but humanity must remain at the center of health care. AI can support doctors, but it cannot replace
02:22their skill, compassion, and judgment. Thank you for watching Positive Post. I'm Hamza Sabir,
