A tornado swept through New Orleans, Louisiana, causing power flashes, damaging homes and businesses and knocking down trees and signs on June 18. Two residents share their reactions to the storm.

00:00It was absolutely a tornado. You could hear it. And look out, my box was smoking and flaming on
00:05the side. But the wind was such that it was definitely a tornado. We knew it was going to
00:09be heavy rain, but I had no idea. I thought it was going to be further north. So for this
00:14to happen,
00:15you know, on the south shore like this is a little unusual. I don't know how that piece of
00:19wood got up there, picking up some roof damage, roof torn here. I think I'm luckier than a lot
00:25of my folks. I'm luckier than my neighbor here. It became real intense for about 20 or 30 seconds.
00:31And then after that, you know, we waited a few minutes before we came out, got the all clear,
00:37looked at the radar. Just assessing the damage right now.
