00:03Three, two, one, zero.
00:10This is not a normal internship.
00:15It's definitely one of the fastest paced, most interesting places I've ever looked at.
00:20Dragon is in orbit.
00:21The hands-on experience that I've gotten here has been phenomenal.
00:28I love it here. This is probably the coolest place to work.
00:38Hi, I'm Julie Wong and I'm an intern with Avionics.
00:41Right now I'm working on a receiver for the Dragon.
00:45In order to navigate, Dragon communicates with TDRS, which is SES satellites that NASA sent up.
00:51Specifically, I'm working on the receiver that goes on Dragon that will link up to those satellites,
00:57figure out where the capsule is in space, and then navigate.
01:00My name is David Larson and I'm in the Structures Department here at SpaceX.
01:04SpaceX is pretty awesome. It's an incredible place to work.
01:07You get to do things that you don't get to do anywhere else, and as an intern, you get to
01:11work on it.
01:11You don't have to be a full-time engineer to work on technologies and projects that are pushing the boundaries
01:16of space flight.
01:17Hi, my name is Joshua Mann and I work in propulsion.
01:20I have programming, computer programming tasks, which pretty much is how we determine whether or not our engines are operating
01:27to the right specifications.
01:29So I'll do a lot of analysis on the different devices that you'll use to test them and make sure
01:37that they're running in the correct fashion.
01:41Hi, my name is Brennan Hardy. I work with Ground Support Equipment Engineering in McGregor, Texas.
01:45We're really more a hands-on, get-it-done sort of team.
01:49I've learned a ton, especially what we do in Ground Support Equipment.
01:54I could take what I've learned and I could go to an oil field. I could go to another aerospace
01:59industry.
02:00I could go pretty much anywhere with all the stuff that I've learned.
02:03I'm Jeff Alenoff. I'm a test engineer focusing on Dragon development.
02:07I get to come to work and play with spaceships all day.
02:12And what person wouldn't want that?
02:17When an engine test happens, it's the most incredible thing you could possibly think of.
02:32Hi, my name is Katina Magley and I'm a launch intern at Vandenberg.
02:36I work with all the electrical GSC and it's basically command and control of the site.
02:42So it's a lot of sensor reading and valve control.
02:44I have learned a ton about actual hands-on things that I didn't get from my schooling.
02:52And also working with technicians. I work with technicians every day.
02:56Lift off.
02:59My view every day driving into work is the ocean.
03:02And it's a little overcast right now, but it's usually sunny and it's a beautiful view.
03:12Hello, my name is Tijas Parik and I am a launch intern at Cape Canaveral.
03:16Working at Launchpad is crazy. There's so many different aspects to it and you get to do absolutely everything here.
03:21So I get to fulfill roles as a design engineer working at my desk with modeling and analysis.
03:28And then the next day I'll work as a build engineer ordering materials and sending drawings to technicians.
03:32I'd recommend this location to anybody, especially due to the fact that you get to act as an operations engineer
03:38and actually launch a rocket.
03:45SpaceX is a great place for interns to find full-time jobs.
03:49By the end of my internship, I knew all of these processes and the approaches that SpaceX took to manufacturing.
03:55So by the end of it, I could really kind of take whatever composite assembly was thrown at me and
04:01kind of bring it to life here in the factory.
04:03Mentors here are infinite.
04:05You have your starting out mentor for your engineering internship in your group or department.
04:11And they will definitely feed down the requirements that are expected of you.
04:15But as you step out into that work floor and start getting your hands dirty, you have everyone from recent
04:21grads all the way to 30 or 40 year veterans.
04:25Overall, the SpaceX internship program is certainly a great training regimen for full-time work here or anywhere else in
04:33your engineering career.
04:38The benefits of being here at SpaceX? Free, frozen yogurt.
04:43We have bonfires at the beach.
04:44I'm really looking forward to the aerospace games.
04:47Paul! Paul!
04:50So last year during my first internship, I think on about the second day, I decided that I for sure
04:56want to work here.
04:57Coming from an engineering standpoint, it's kind of the mecca of like places you can work and where to get
05:01experience.
05:02I think that SpaceX prepares us immensely like well for a full-time job.
05:07I think that this has probably been one of the most challenging academic and also life experiences I've ever had.
05:12It's been an absolutely incredible experience.
05:16I've learned more than I could possibly learn anywhere else.
05:21And the people I've met and the things I've seen have just been incredible.
05:26It's nice to have, you know, a large group of other interns that are here to hang out with, to
05:33go do things with.
05:34I've made friends, you know, last summer, this summer that I'll probably keep for the rest of my life.
05:38SpaceX is awesome.
05:39And if you're in engineering and you love rockets and you just are passionate about what you do, this is
05:45definitely the place to be.
05:51I'll see you next time.
05:52Bye.
05:54Bye.
