00:03Fix the system before it breaks another student. Carrying placards and raising slogans,
00:08students at Assam Don Bosco University protested after a sexual harassment complaint was filed
00:13against a department head. It began on June 8, 2026, when a second-year student met the head
00:20of department for attendance issues and later alleged misconduct during the interaction.
00:25The allegations quickly triggered outrage among students who claim this was not an
00:28isolated incident and said multiple complaints had surfaced against the same faculty member
00:33in the past, though no strong action had followed. On the night of June 15, students marched towards
00:38the faculty members' residential quarters with tensions running high on campus before
00:42wardens intervened to calm the situation. Police were also deployed and the situation was brought
00:47under control. The university has said Dr Saurabh Chandra is no longer associated with the institution
00:52from June 16 and reiterated its zero-tolerance policy on sexual harassment while promising
00:58additional safety measures, including more CCTV cameras, were required.
