00:00I do believe that Tyra, along with the other execs, the Jays and Ken Mock and all that,
00:07I don't think anyone set out to do something bad.
00:10It was never an intention for something bad to happen.
00:16Virtual reality.
00:18Eva Marceal, we are so excited to be reunited with you, but we're kind of sad.
00:22Why?
00:23Because All the Queen's Men is coming to an end.
00:25How are you feeling about the final season?
00:27Ah, season five. It's surreal.
00:30It is absolutely surreal.
00:32I remember embarking on this show.
00:33I was so bright-eyed and bushy-tailed and just so excited to jump into this world of,
00:39what the hell are we doing?
00:41And we were able to create a world.
00:45Thank you to Tyler Perry, who has worked tirelessly to make sure that our show stays elevated.
00:51All of our cast and crew that works so hard.
00:54And just to see our baby.
00:57It's like, as a mother, you know, you birth a child.
00:59And it's like, oh, you're going off to school.
01:02You have to let them go.
01:03So, fifth season, it's an honor to do a television show that is anywhere between 16 and 20 episodes per
01:12season.
01:14Five seasons straight of nothing but grit and terror and drama and sexiness and just all of the yummy that
01:26you want for television.
01:27It has been an honor.
01:28Oh, I love hearing that.
01:30And I'm, like, glad that you had such a wonderful experience.
01:32And I'm kind of wondering, what is one major thing you're taking away, either from the experience or your character,
01:37that you're, like, going to want to carry out into your, like, you know.
01:40From both.
01:41Oh, yeah.
01:41So, for my character, there is a lot of me that is in Madam.
01:46Even though, like, I'm not a criminal and I'm, like, legal.
01:49I don't do, like, criminal things.
01:53But just a woman that, like, knows what she wants.
01:56Yeah.
01:56And doesn't take no for an answer.
01:58And Madam might kind of manipulate to get her way, but Eva strategizes.
02:03And she does it with nothing but great intentions.
02:06But I do have an intention for my life, an intention on my life.
02:11And so, because of that, like, Madam, I'm on a mission.
02:14I'm on a mission out here in the world to do good, to be great, to make my art, to
02:19make my family proud, my community proud.
02:22And I think that's who Madam is, somewhere behind the crime.
02:26Right.
02:26Somewhere behind there, she wants to show that black is excellent, that women can do hard things, that women can
02:32do what men can do, that we can, you know, exist and excel in spaces that we were never allowed
02:37to before.
02:38You have made so much happen for yourself throughout your career.
02:41And I'm kind of wondering, when you were first on America's Next Top Model, did you have a strategy?
02:45Was that Madam kind of, like, living inside of you when you were cast and then eventually won America's Next
02:50Top Model?
02:51I think there is a Madam inside of every single person.
02:55And being able to do it on television and show Madam, I think it now gives people the allowance and
03:02some that are audacious enough to actually go out and do it.
03:06But for Top Model, for me, and starting there, I think it was Tyra.
03:10It was Tyra that saw that tenacious, that spark inside of me and took the time to groom it and
03:18to know the difference between assertive and aggressive and, you know, having patience.
03:23And even though you have a prayer, wait on timing.
03:26And so Top Model definitely groomed me a lot for this business and understanding that my dreams are exactly that.
03:33My feet are the things that take me to my dreams.
03:36And I'm kind of curious because, I mean, like, you conquered Next Top Model.
03:41You conquered modeling.
03:42You conquered reality TV.
03:43You're conquering scripted.
03:44Is there more?
03:47I was going to say.
03:47Am I going to die?
03:48No, I was going to say.
03:49I'm like, you're checking all these boxes.
03:51I kind of wonder, is there an avenue that you haven't really dabbled in that really is curious to you
03:56or do you kind of love blossoming in the TV space?
03:59I love blossoming in all spaces.
04:00As far as an entertainer, so you know me as a model, an actor, producer, radio host, podcast, all of
04:09that.
04:09But I also have a cannabis company called Sunflower by Eva.
04:14Love.
04:14A year in, it's doing extremely well.
04:17I've had top of bed company.
04:19I've had jewelry companies.
04:20So I'm a serial entrepreneur.
04:23But what I do is I like to do what I love to do.
04:26And when given the opportunity to just fall into my passion and get paid to do it, I mean, what
04:33more do you want?
04:34Right.
04:34I feel like you've always maintained a really admirable level of positivity.
04:38And even just hearing you talk about your Top Model experience, it kind of makes me feel better as someone
04:43who, like, watched and loved Top Model.
04:45There's been a lot of conversations about Top Model recently.
04:48But when you reflect on it, it's always, like, a beautiful, fond memory for you.
04:53What was your take on all the discussions surrounding the documentary that came out?
04:57There's so much chatter about it, you know?
05:00And it's easy to speak on things you don't know about.
05:04But I remember one, just a quick story.
05:06When I was in college, I broke up with my boyfriend.
05:10We had a big breakup.
05:11And I came home.
05:12And I was just crying and crying.
05:13And my mom came into my bedroom.
05:15And she said, and I was like, I just, I can't believe it's God.
05:19And she said, you know, God does a special thing.
05:22Well, he reminds you of all of the beautiful things that happen.
05:26Even though life, life's, and there are some not so pleasurable things that happen, God does it, has a way
05:33of making an indelible mark in your brain of those positive things.
05:39And so as I journeyed through life, as I did Top Model, there were things that, you know, I mean,
05:44I went on the show.
05:45I didn't know how to put on mascara.
05:46So I learned everything, right?
05:48I mean, I was the girl that knew nothing.
05:50I tried out in cowboy boots.
05:53So I learned a lot.
05:54And all of it wasn't easy to learn.
05:57Looking back at it now, looking from today's idea of social engagement, we didn't even have social media before when
06:07we did Top Model.
06:07There was no social media.
06:09And so I think now, looking back in real time, I mean, you watched the Knicks game last night.
06:14We saw the man fall asleep at the game.
06:16It would take maybe a week or two for us to get that kind of a news.
06:20So I give grace where I want grace given.
06:24I do believe that Tyra, along with the other execs, the Jays and Ken Mock and all that, I don't
06:33think anyone set out to do something bad.
06:35It was never an intention for something bad to happen.
06:38Though there were things that did happen, I was not a part of it or sadly even privy enough to
06:45it at the time.
06:46So the doc, like, for me was a surprise.
06:48Yeah.
06:49More so that they didn't ask me to be on it.
06:51Wait, they didn't ask you?
06:52I thought you turned it down.
06:53No.
06:54They didn't ask me to be on it.
06:55What the hell?
06:55But I think after watching it, I see why.
06:58Because I'm way too positive.
06:59Like, they would just cut.
07:00We would have wasted.
07:01First of all, I heard they didn't pay.
07:02So I wasn't going to do it for free.
07:04And then if they did pay, they would have wasted money on me.
07:08You wouldn't help them tell the story they wanted to tell.
07:11Now, what do you think people get wrong about Tyra?
07:13Because, like, we love Tyra too.
07:15Listen, I love Tyra Lynn Banks down.
07:18I think what people get wrong about Tyra, a lot of entertainers, from when we started, we don't do a
07:23lot of social.
07:24Like, we're not in interviews.
07:25I just did an interview the other day.
07:27I'm terrified of it coming out because I just don't do those kind of interviews.
07:30And so I think Tyra's of the Rihanna.
07:34Like, there's a rumor.
07:36Believe it.
07:36Believe it twice.
07:38Doesn't spend the time and energy dabbling in the negative while she spends all of her energy trying to create,
07:44develop, and make more.
07:46I mean, she has her ice cream.
07:48She's in Australia.
07:48She's doing her thing.
07:49She's just busy.
07:50Yes.
07:51I don't think she's worried about what's going on over here.
07:53Right.
07:54Not in that respect.
07:55I do love, and to your point, that you always really do, you are a sunflower.
07:59You're a walking sunflower.
08:00Like, you see the beauty.
08:00You see the light and everything.
08:02Do you have any, for people that are kind of wanting to be a little more like you in that
08:05regard, like, what advice do you have for them?
08:08Okay, I can give you the definition of a sunflower and how a sunflower grows.
08:12And you can be one, too.
08:13So, for a sunflower, a sunflower, obviously, it radiates and it goes and it grows towards the light, which is
08:20always why it's always up.
08:22And, oftentimes, if you see one sunflower, it'll live for a little while.
08:27It lives inside of its light, tries to find the sun, but it might die.
08:30The best way to live as a sunflower is to find another sunflower.
08:34Because in a field of sunflowers, when the sun goes down, the flowers face each other.
08:38Because they become each other's light until they meet their new source again and you get the light from the
08:44sun.
08:45So, I would say, be your own sunflower.
08:48Have your light.
08:49And then make sure you share your light and get light from others.
08:54That is beautiful, Eva.
08:55Oh, my God.
08:56Wow.
08:56That would be my way of...
08:57Oh, my God, yes.
08:58I feel like you need to host, like, a children's show now.
09:01Where you, like, teach everyone to be...
09:02Adults won't resonate with that.
09:03The children will love it.
09:05No, like, I love that.
09:06That was so beautiful.
09:06Thank you, but, I mean, honestly, it's men's mental health month also.
09:12And so, I think that we believe that therapy or the idea of mental health lies in maybe only women
09:19because we're having children or going through transitional parts of our lives or kids because they're going...
09:24But what about men?
09:25We're struggling, too.
09:26We, as people, are all struggling.
09:28And so, the question is, like, how do you find your inner light?
09:30How do you find your happy?
09:32How do you find your chi in a world that's dark and is funky?
09:35And you be the change you want.
09:39You be the light you want.
09:40And honestly, I feel, too, Sunflowers, because right after we finish talking to you, we're talking to Cynthia Bailey.
09:44Which is so...
09:45She's...
09:45I feel she gives Sunflower.
09:46She has love and light together.
09:47Oh, my God.
09:48I know.
09:48And I love...
09:49Because I...
09:49Like, we were thinking about it.
09:50We're like, oh, my God.
09:51Wow.
09:52I...
09:52Just, like, Atlanta magic.
09:53Yes.
09:54Do you guys keep in touch a little bit?
09:55Yes.
09:56Cynthia's my girl.
09:57I love that.
09:58Cynthia Kenya, you know, my new friend from...
10:00She's not on the shows anymore.
10:02Candice Dillard.
10:03Oh.
10:04I love her.
10:06We're obsessed with her.
10:06We are obsessed with her.
10:07Oh, my God.
10:08We love her so much.
10:08She's everything.
10:09Wait, how did you guys meet?
10:10We did a project together.
10:12Neil Simon, we did a play.
10:14Oh, with Jessel Tank, too, right?
10:16Everything is.
10:16Yes.
10:17I saw that.
10:17Yes.
10:18With the Tony Award winning, now director.
10:23Oh, my God.
10:23Zaylen just won last night.
10:25Wow.
10:25Incredible.
10:26So, yeah, I love my housewives.
10:30I love our little community, our little sisters.
10:31I mean, like, family, everyone fights.
10:34Oh, wait, because I saw that.
10:35You guys did that reading.
10:36It looked so exciting.
10:37Is there, like, potential for that to become...
10:40Well, now that Zaylen's on his way to London to do 17, and now he is a Tony Award winning
10:46director, I don't know.
10:48Neil Simon, estate.
10:50Maybe Broadway is next for you.
10:52I mean, that's...
10:53Theater is my next spot.
10:54Okay.
10:54That's my next spot.
10:54There we go.
10:55Nice.
10:55Well, also, Selfish Day, I love that, because that means you're going to be in New York
10:58a lot more.
10:58Yes.
10:59And I went and saw Candies Play.
11:01Oh, was it amazing?
11:02Absolutely amazing.
11:03Jill Turner coming on.
11:05Oh, incredible.
11:05It was a night to remember opening night.
11:07It was epic.
11:07So, we are here.
11:09We are in the space.
11:09I'm super excited.
11:10I'm happy to be in New York promoting season five of All the Queens Men.
11:14Wait, yes, I was going to ask before we let you go, what is the, because it's a premiere
11:18and a final part, like, what is the party vibe to celebrate the event?
11:21Okay, so you get two spins, okay?
11:23Okay.
11:23So, the beauty of TV now is that season five, part one, is starting.
11:29Okay.
11:30Wednesday, June 10th.
11:33Two episodes.
11:34There you go.
11:35So, then every week after that, you get a one episode drop, and then we're going to take a browse.
11:40Take a break.
11:41Take a beat.
11:41Let you ingest.
11:42And then we come back for the second half of season five.
11:45Oh, amazing.
11:46Oh, I love it, because, like, I hate saying goodbye to things.
11:48No.
11:48But it's never goodbye.
11:50It's always see you later.
11:51Right.
11:51There we go.
11:52And if this is over, then that means that something else better and bigger is coming.
11:56And this was great.
11:56So, I mean.
11:57And your sunflower will bloom.
11:58This is why you're a sunflower.
11:59Yes.
12:00Thank you so much for stopping by.
12:01Thank you for having me.
12:02Congratulations on everything.
12:04So excited.
