00:00Dana Abercrombie, The Coalition. I'm fascinated. We've seen his backstory involving women, especially with his mother, but I'm interested in
00:09how he views men that allow for Bishop to get the upper hand. He really did not see that moment
00:15coming until the end. Was there any conversation about that during the creation of the character?
00:21Not at all. And I think that's also part of Sam's process. He doesn't show all of his cards. That
00:28was, you know, even though I was privy to all of the scripts, I wasn't privy to that aspect until
00:39just before we shot it, you know.
00:42And so it's a great question because I think that was one of Alamo's downfalls, you know, in that he
00:52said, I will never let a woman outsmart me, but it really should have been.
00:56I will never let anyone outsmart me because it meant that he overlooked his right arm man.
01:03There is a scene where, and it's the sequence where Alamo's pants are too short and he's really, you see
01:12him, this is the post the robbery by Laurie's gang.
01:17You see him spiraling into paranoia and anger and it's really triggered him.
01:23And he says, I have a house full of Judases, you know, which is why he punishes Big Eddie, played
01:31by the wonderful Kadeem Hardison.
01:33And, but he overlooks Bishop, I think. And I think that obviously was his downfall. Yeah.
01:41I'm fascinated by the final scene between Alamo and Ali. There is that moment, right, when he said we see
01:48him being big and boisterous and theatrical.
01:50But when he says Rue, you know, who sent me? He says Rue. He freezes for a moment. He takes
01:55that in.
01:57Can you talk about that process of realizing, hey, this was probably the wrong person, even though he has disposed
02:04of many people before?
02:06And what did that mean to him when he heard that name?
02:10It's a great question. I think in that moment, he, you know, because Alamo played, played up to that point,
02:18a game of chess.
02:19With Rue's life. You know, he'd anticipated she would take the drug and there would be nobody that would give
02:26a damn about her.
02:27We already had sent Bishop to Rue's mom. You know, he's keeping an eye on her.
02:35So he didn't anticipate that there was anybody going to actually fight for Rue's life.
02:42So it was as if she was rising from the dead.
02:46And and I think in that moment, as much as he's trying to be stoic and calm, I think there's
02:55a measure of panic.
02:57Like, OK, you know, he did this.
03:01This was just something he never anticipated.
03:06Somebody fighting for that girl, because as far as Alamo was concerned, she was just a destitute junkie.
03:13And and he was proved wrong.
03:16He was shown that there was still love in the world, the love that he couldn't find.
03:22And somebody cared about Rue to the point that they were willing to challenge him in his own domain.
03:29So I think at that moment, it was almost as if she'd risen from the dead to haunt him.
03:36But, you know, like a swan on a lake, he's still trying to be cool.
03:40But underneath the legs are paddling, trying to think, well, how do I get out of this now?
03:46You know, because he's challenged me in my own domain.
03:49He's shot one of my men, my right hand man, G, played by Mashon Lynch.
03:55And I've got to snub this out because everybody is looking.
04:02And I need to make a definitive move to kill this man by any means necessary.
04:08And then he begins to orchestrate how he's going to get out of it with Kitty doing the bottle.
04:14And he's always going to cheat.
04:16That's never that's never a question.
04:19So, yeah, I think that's kind of what may have gone through his mind.
04:23The sheer shock and panic that his little orchestrated chess move had just been unraveled by the mere notion of
04:35love.
04:36Thank you so much.
04:38Good question.
