NFL insider Jason La Canfora reported there is a "strong sense around the league" that the Eagles are willing to make aggressive moves at quarterback.

One NFL executive told La Canfora: "Howie isn't just going to sit on his hands if he thinks there are better options." The report also mentions that a two-time MVP like Lamar Jackson could become available in a trade, and the 2027 quarterback draft class is earning strong early reviews.

Hurts has been dealing with an ankle injury but has been cleared to play. Coach Nick Sirianni confirmed the issue but said Hurts is "ready to go." The injury is not expected to affect his performance.

Hurts signed a five-year, $255 million extension in 2023 with an average annual value of $51 million. For the 2026 season, he has a guaranteed salary of $51.5 million and a cap number of $31,971,800. That number balloons to $42,132,800 in 2027, which is when his future in Philadelphia could come into question.

Despite the rumors, Eagles Wire ranked Hurts as the safest starter on the roster entering training camp. Sports Illustrated also reported that the Eagles are set at quarterback for 2026.
