00:00It was sort of the nexus of the entire album is this conversation that I had with one of my
00:03friends and I was like, I just like, I want to write this record about love. It's supposed to be
00:07about love. I have all these love songs I just love and I'm in this like relationship that is like,
00:11quote unquote, happy. Like, why do I feel so depressed? Like, why can't I feel how I think it's supposed
00:19to feel in my head? And we just had this conversation. And after we had that conversation, I went home
00:23and wrote The Cure.
00:24And songwriting for me is kind of like best done when you're like a little bit afraid to write it.
00:30And I think having written that song, I learned so much about myself, which is not always the case in
00:34every song. And I think I could never have written that song on guts or never written that song on
00:39sour. I think that I had to have like a lot of life experience and, you know, look really deeply
00:44inward in a way that, you know, 17 year old me couldn't have done.
