00:00We already had one of the guys that almost landed here.
00:03Because there's no ring apron, I don't know, there's no space outside the ropes.
00:08If you go through the ropes, you go on the table already.
00:12No ring apron to land.
00:13You know what, I'm glad you brought that up, Pauly, because what about when the guy's foot steps back with
00:18his feet and then you slide?
00:19That happens when the ring is too small.
00:21There's not enough room there for your back foot to, you know, you take a step back, you're going to
00:26get hurt.
00:27There's not even room for the advertisement underneath the ropes.
00:29I mean, they're showing you guys, you can see it right there as you're showing what you're talking about.
00:33The corner man, the corner man's feet are literally off the edge of the apron.
00:38But, okay, let's talk about it for a second.
00:40What kind of fight style does that favor when the ring is small like this?
00:45The fighter that can do what?
00:47It's fight inside.
00:48Fight inside.
00:50My favorite type of fighter.
00:51Inside fighters.
00:52Inside fighters.
00:52Mexican style fighting that we call, you know, a guy that's not going to run, that guy's not going to
00:58move,
00:58uses footwork.
00:59He's going to be, he's going to want to keep the fight in the center of the ring.
01:02And if you run in this small ring, he's going to make that room smaller.
01:05You ain't going to have no room to go, you know.
01:08You know, he's going to put that mental pressure on you.
01:10You ain't going to know what to do.
01:11That's my kind of ring.
01:12That's not Pauly's kind of ring.
01:14No, it wasn't what I preferred, I'll be honest with you.
01:17But, you know what, you got to make do with what you got, right?
01:20So, you know, you're in here, there's ways to win for even boxers,
01:25but you got to box a little bit more alertly in a small ring.
01:29Well, hey, this, you know, this Tom and Jerry style of boxing that we've been hearing about,
01:33I don't think you'll see that tonight with a ring of this size.
01:36Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide as we are awaiting the ring walks for our heavyweight bout.
01:40Scheduled for 10 rounds, Damian Knieba and Marcin Siwi, although he said it very,
01:49you know, my Polish accent is not great, I'll admit.
01:52Pauly, how's yours?
01:52My Polish isn't strong, no.
01:54You know, in the kind of way he said it, almost the W is like a V, right?
01:56Siwi, yeah.
01:57Siwi.
01:57Siwi, right?
01:58Siwi.
01:59Yeah.
02:00Raul?
02:01We gave it a good shot.
02:02How's your Polish?
02:03Siwi.
02:04Siwi.
02:04There you go, Siwi.
02:05I put that Mexican accent to it.
02:09That's the way I go with it.
02:10That's my route, Siwi.
02:15Ralph Velez is loving it.
02:16Siwi's going, making his ring walk now.
02:19Ralph, we're waiting for them to make their ring walks.
02:21They're taking their time.
02:24And there is the man that we were talking about earlier in Siwi,
02:29who is 25-0-1 with 12 knockouts,
02:31who came here with a stone-cold personality.
02:36Stone-cold face.
02:37I came here to fight, do my business.
02:39And he's walking to the ring stone-cold, boo.
02:41I'm going to get this chair out of my way.
02:43Maybe I'll sit in it.
02:44Say a prayer or two now.
02:45I'll make my...
02:46That was a quick prayer.
02:47Yeah, that was a quick prayer.
02:48Yeah.
02:53And there's another one there.
02:57This is United States' debut as well for Siwi.
03:02He's had some extensive international amateur experience prior to his professional debut,
03:07but this is the very first time he is actually fighting outside of his native Poland as a professional.
03:15But, of course, it's going to be against another Polish fighter.
03:18Yeah, so they could have it back home.
03:19That's what I'm saying.
03:20It's like he never left.
03:22It's like, this is what I get for coming all the way over here?
03:24A guy that I've seen at club shows in Poland all the time?
03:26But it's still got to be a different atmosphere when you fight here in the States
03:29and you fight over there in Poland.
03:30The crowd, everything is different.
03:31Yeah.
03:32This guy's a polar opposite.
03:34And one guy's like a little pit bull.
03:35And one guy's like Manute Bull.
03:38Gentle giant.
03:40God, I haven't heard Manute Bull's name in such a long time.
03:42We were just talking hoops yesterday, too.
03:45Bull Bull now, more recently.
03:47And he's not as tall as Manute Bull.
03:49No, no.
03:49The reason I say Manute Bull is because he's lanky and skinny,
03:51and his opponent is short and stocky.
03:53But he does have an 86-inch reach,
03:56which is, in fact, the longest active measurable reach in boxing today
04:01as he steps over the top rope.
04:02I was always jealous of that.
04:04Tall guys can just go over the top rope.
04:05I couldn't do that.
04:06You can do that, Raul?
04:07No.
04:07No, Raul, come on.
04:09Come on.
04:09I couldn't do that.
04:10I was always curious about that.
04:11There's no way.
04:13All right, Raul, you ready?
04:15I'll send it right up to you.
04:16You, Raul, please.
04:18Ladies and gentlemen, Hall of Fame promoter,

04:41Jacqueline Atkins, Anthony Lundy, and John McHale.
04:45And in the ring, the man laying the law when the bell sounds,
04:50referee Harvey Dock.
04:55Introducing first fighting out of the blue corner,
04:59he's wearing solid black.
05:01He went in officially at an even 244 pounds.
05:05His professional record, 25 victories.
05:10No defeats with one bout even.
05:1312 of his victories coming by way of KO.
05:19Fighting out of Czesnohova, Poland,
05:21and making his United States debut,
05:24presenting the undefeated,
05:28Mushroom Shavey!
05:37And his opponent, fighting out of the red corner,
05:41he's wearing the colors of the flag of Poland.
05:45He went in officially at 254.5 pounds.
05:50His professional record, 15 victories.
05:54No defeats.
05:55Nine of his victories coming by way of KO.
06:01Fighting out of hoops in Poland,
06:04presenting the undefeated,
06:10Damian Karniba!
06:17Once again, referee in charge, Harvey Dock.
06:32Okay, boxers, we went over the instructions earlier.
06:35As a reminder, obey my commands at all times.
06:37Protect yourself at all times.
06:38Touch gloves.
06:39Good luck.
06:40Watch the head, bud.
06:49Always good to see Harvey Dock,
06:51the third man in the ring tonight.
06:52Christina Poncher, Pauly Malignaggi,
06:54and Raul Marquez on the broadcast here with you.
06:57Thank you for tuning in on ESPN+.
07:00Our heavyweight contest scheduled for 10 rounds.
07:04Poland versus Poland.
07:05Undefeated versus undefeated.
07:14And right away,
07:17you can tell the significant height
07:19and reach advantage that Karniba has on Ceevee.
07:24And you see the mentalities.
07:26Karniba looking for that jab and established distance.
07:29And Ceevee looking to close that range right away.
07:32Oh, yeah.
07:33He knows.
07:33He ain't got no choice, Pauly.
07:35He's got to get inside.
07:36Look at his long arms.
07:38Karniba's long arms.
07:39That's where he's got to keep him.
07:40Right?
07:40Just get in his chest,
07:42work the body, and push him back.
07:43And that's the thing about getting inside
07:45on a tall, big heavyweight.
07:46Sometimes they tie you up when you do get inside.
07:49That's your game.
07:49I mean, that's the way they have to fight.
07:52Tie you up, get back on the outside
07:53with the long jab,
07:55straight shots down the middle.
07:56Even use that long touching jab
07:58just to keep you at bay, keep you outside.
08:01Karniba said something very interesting yesterday
08:02in the fighter meetings.
08:03He said if he doesn't get him out of there in three rounds,
08:04he wouldn't be satisfied or something to that effect, right?
08:08He did say that.
08:08Yeah.
08:09He thought he'd get CB out in a few rounds.
08:12We'll see.
08:12He gave him credit.
08:13He said, look, he does have more professional experience
08:15and he does have an extensive amateur resume,
08:17but he does feel like it.
08:18Then he said, I'll get him out in three rounds.
08:19But I still think I should get him out of there.
08:21Yeah, he was very confident
08:23and doesn't look like it to me so far
08:27that it could get him out in three rounds
08:30because, you know, if you look at CB,
08:32he's already, he's the first round,
08:33he's already closing that distance that quick.
08:35It didn't take him that long to get in there.
08:38Covers up very well, that frame defense, guard up.
08:40But Karniba's doing a good job of being first.
08:42But that's better there, you know, working off the jab,
08:43giving himself a little bit more range.
08:45Just looks to set up that uppercut
08:46and he does have a good right hand as well.
08:48He's just got to give himself some space to set it up
08:50and that's something that CB's not really giving him right now.
08:52Yeah, exactly.
08:53But I think keeping CB on the back foot
08:55prevents CB's power from, you know, coming to the forefront.
08:59You know, you back up a puncher,
09:00you back up a big stocky guy like this,
09:02he usually can't get leverage on his punches.
09:03So I think Karniba being first consistently,
09:06backing up with the big physical guy,
09:09may make the big physical guy less dangerous
09:11even if you don't get him out of there.
09:13When you see Karniba consistently is first.
09:16CB.
09:16Popping that jab, just, you know, putting some in his face,
09:19you know, letting him know I'm here.
09:20Trying to set up that big right hand down the middle.
09:23That's what he said he was going to try to knock him out with.
09:26That's what he said with his right hand down the middle
09:28or over the top.
09:30That is his best punch.
09:33But for CB, he too telling us, like,
09:35look, I want to put on a show.
09:37This is an opportunity to fight here in the United States.
09:39Although he admitted that it's not like a dream come true for me.
09:42I said, all right, is this a dream come true
09:43to be able to come here to fight?
09:44He said, no, no.
09:45I mean, the U.S. isn't that big of a deal
09:47as it used to be, right?
09:48Yeah.
09:48He's like, no, I'm good.
09:49You know, I got the call two and a half months ago,
09:51took the opportunity.
09:53I'm just here to fight and here to win.
09:55Nice body shots there by Karniba.
09:56At least changing the trajectory of the punches.
09:58You know, I think that's always smart to, you know,
10:01open up your options and target different areas
10:03so that your opponent can't get a buildup
10:05and anticipation for your offense.
10:07He's just being faster with his, you know,
10:09with his combinations, Paulie.
10:10He's mixing it up.
10:18You want to talk about it?
10:21Here he is.
10:22Here he is.
