Oil drops to $80 a barrel and markets rise as Trump touts Iran framework deal

Oil prices traded over 5% lower on Monday morning after US President Donald Trump announced the completion of the framework for a peace deal with Iran and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

00:08war with Iran and both sides announced a lifting of their respective blockades of the Strait of
00:13Hormuz. Markets reacted swiftly to the prospect of the Strait of Hormuz slowly reopening and the
00:20potential that the Iran war is closer to ending than re-igniting. Both the Eurostoxx 50 and the
00:26broader pan-European stock 600 traded over 1% higher at the start of Monday's session. In the US,
00:33the S&P 500 traded over 1.5% higher and the tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 rose more than 1
00:41.2% in the
00:42first hour of trading. The specific concessions made by each side are still unclear. The announced
00:48framework is currently expected to be signed on Friday. The new major stock on the block, SpaceX,
00:54was also around 8% higher from its closing price on Friday as it began its full week of trading.
