Today’s work, [The Flâneur's Aura], was written based on the core theories of Walter Benjamin, a master of critical theory and aesthetics: Aura and the Flâneur (The Urban Stroller). Benjamin diagnosed that the Aura—the unique, mystical quality of a work of art—fades in the age of technical reproducibility. Yet, at the same time, he sought to discover a new sense of singularity through the gaze of the Flâneur, who wanders the metropolis to capture the hidden beauty beneath its surface. This project visualizes a subject who paradoxically restores the most singular aura amidst the skyscrapers and glass windows that symbolize the reproducible city.
The line "Hic et Nunc—the universe is mine to create" is a modern declaration of "Hic et Nunc" (Here and Now), the essence of the aura emphasized by Benjamin. Furthermore, the phrase "Turning all the city scraps into my stage right here" sings of the dignity of the stroller who transforms an anonymous space into her own unique artistic sanctuary.
