With the boost function, the RS 5 unleashes a particularly powerful burst of acceleration at the touch of a button for ten seconds – perfect for spontaneous overtaking maneuvers. As soon as the driver presses the "Boost" button on the steering wheel, the transmission automatically engages the gear with optimal traction, ensuring immediate and maximum dynamic acceleration. A countdown in the driver information display shows the remaining ten seconds of boost. Afterward, the system returns to the previously selected driving mode. The function can be activated from any drive select mode. Even in all-electric mode, the boost function provides optimal acceleration: The 2.9-liter V6 TFSI engine is seamlessly activated to unleash its full power potential. Simultaneously, the exhaust flaps of the RS sport exhaust system open for a particularly exhilarating sound experience.
