00:00Harvard didn't just educate Ted Kaczynski, some researchers believe it helped break him.
00:04In 1959, a 16-year-old prodigy arrived at Harvard. He was brilliant, socially awkward,
00:09and completely unprepared for what was waiting. A psychologist named Henry Murray recruited him
00:14for a study. Murray wasn't just an academic, he had spent World War II designing psychological
00:19stress techniques for the OSS, the agency that became the CIA. What happened inside that study
00:25was not normal research. For months, Kaczynski sat in a room while his deepest beliefs were mocked
00:31and torn apart by trained interrogators. Electrodes tracked every physical response. He had no way
00:36to fight back. He later called it one of the most painful experiences of his life. Years afterward,
00:41his writings obsessed over one idea that powerful institutions destroy individuals from the inside
00:47out. He had lived it in a Harvard lab before he ever built a single bomb. The question that no
00:52one
00:52has fully answered is simple. What exactly did that university create inside that room?
