01:25We've been coming to Spain since 2019.
01:27It was the first holiday we took as a couple.
01:29You know, when you come here, we just like feel like at home.

01:33The food, the people, the culture.
01:34To come to a place where there is more of that integration to the family and the community.
01:38That is like kind of the thing that was missing for us in Seattle.
01:41It was always my dream to be able to come overseas and just work and live in a different way.
01:46We are really excited to start a family soon and we really just want to find a home and settle
01:53in and feel really comfortable before that chapter starts for us.
01:58In the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains is the Spanish city of Grenada.

02:15It's just over an hour's flight from the capital Madrid and a major cultural city in Spain's most southern region,

02:25What do you think lifestyle-wise you'll be able to have here that you can't have in Seattle?
02:29I mean, if you just think about the cost of living.

02:31It's a big thing.
02:32Affordability.

02:33Be able to find a property that's much more affordable.
02:35It opens up a lot of doors in life, especially as you bring kids as well.
02:39Like there's an added cost to that.

02:41So to do it in an environment that is more affordable, it's just going to make it a lot easier.
02:46And what's on the requirement list for this family home that you're building?
02:50I always like to say I want a place that has some soul in it.

02:53The energy has to be good.
02:54Having two bedrooms with outdoor space is definitely important for us, especially thinking about

03:01And, you know, the kitchen is also very important to us.
03:03And we also both work from home.
03:05Nicole teaches meditation and I'm an author.
03:07So having separate spaces where we can do our work.

03:12No, you know, we do, but...

03:18What kind of budget have you got?
03:20Two hundred thousand dollars.

03:24Being five and a half thousand miles from Seattle, Nicole and Jordan need some help.
03:30I'm a relocation expert.
03:32I know the ins and outs of the local property markets.
03:35There are so many affordable bargains.
03:37You just need to know the right places to look.
03:40Our search begins in the mountain villages within commuting distance of Granada.
03:45Seattle, we have a lot of mountains and kind of being surrounded by mountains is important to us.
03:50Being a remote and rural part of Spain, this region offers plenty of affordable housing,
03:57especially when compared to the urbanized north.
04:00And moving here couldn't be easier.
04:02There are loads of places in Europe that offer digital nomad visas and Spain recently launched one as well.
04:08This new visa lets you keep your U.S. job and pay packet while living in Spain full time.
04:14With a clear path to residency and lower tax rates, it's a win-win.
04:19Such a wonderful thing to be able to work from an olive grove or a beautiful little village in the
04:26heart of Andalusia.
04:27Our first stop is Pinos del Valle.
04:33A traditional whitewashed village in the heart of the Lecran Valley.
04:38And this family-friendly Spanish community is just under 40 minutes from Granada.
04:44Yet property here is significantly cheaper.

05:05It feels really nice up here to be away from the city but still have kind of a central location.

05:13We're really liking it so far.
05:15Our first bargain dream home is a two bed located in the center of the village.
05:20And it's within walking distance of all the essentials.
05:24Price wise, it's on the lower end of your budget.
05:28So we're looking at under $150,000.

08:31Having only the two bedrooms, it doesn't really give us a lot of flexibility when it comes to having a

08:36and also having our work from home space.

09:47It's renovated to a high standard, but there's a catch.
09:50The area is residential and amenities are a short drive away.

14:23for our next home we're driving south the next place i would like to show you
14:32is quite different i think it's got some of the best potential of any of the properties i've seen
14:38recently but i've been told this morning it's gone under offer it's not finalized nothing has been
14:45signed but of course we have to move quickly if this is the one that you love
14:51the village of conchar known for its farmland and vineyards
14:58it's situated in a remote location between two mountain ranges
15:03with granada and the coast both a 35 minute drive in opposite directions
15:09nestled somewhere up here is the property and this one is on at just under 270 000
15:16dollars it's a little bit over budget how do you feel about that i think that we knew going into

15:21that we would need to have a little bit of wiggle room for our budget and i think that if
15:27it offers everything that we're looking for i think we can make it work yeah i mean if we added
15:32our seventy thousand dollars in savings to our budget of two hundred thousand dollars

21:18want to be closer to the city center granada has definitely stole our hearts the food the people
21:24the flamenco we have been staying in touch with michaela talking about different options and are
21:30really excited to find our future family home
