00:00Obviously a big miss with Virat. He's one of the senior players, the leaders in the team.
00:07The way that he goes about his innings, in that middle phase especially, is something that we'll miss.
00:16Unfortunately we can't control injuries and all of that.
00:19It's a new opportunity for somebody now in this series to go out and fulfill that role.
00:25And we're excited and looking forward to that.
00:28With Rohit, always nice to have his experience back as well.
00:31Just the calmness that he brings to the dressing room.
00:35It's always a positive to have.
00:39He's training well, he's moving well.
00:41I know that he's also excited to go to tomorrow.
00:44That's definitely part of our thinking and our vision is to give us our options for that World Cup in
00:52South Africa.
00:54Boomer again with the new ball, we know what he can do.
00:56But at the same time, it's good for Indian cricket that we give guys opportunity under pressure against good opposition.
01:03And see what they can do.
01:04And luckily we've got two guys now in Prince and Gurnur in our squad.
01:08And I'm pretty sure guys will give those guys opportunity and see how they go in an Indian shirt.
01:16It's different playing for an international cricket with an Indian bat.
01:22So we're excited to have them.
01:24They fit it in beautifully so far.
01:25They've trained really well.
01:26So, yeah, hopefully they can get the opportunity and go out and perform.
01:31Look at your plan, you look at your options like we do in batting, bowling.
01:36Same as with the all-rounders.
01:38You know, unfortunately, Hardik is missing this series.
01:42He picked up a niggle, quite niggle, very close to joining camp.
01:47But again, there's another opportunity now for Natish Koum already.
01:50He's been playing beautifully, you know, the last sort of two years.
01:55He's done a lot of work personally on his game.
01:58And, you know, like I said earlier with the new bowlers coming into the squad,
02:01it's an opportunity for guys also in that role to put their hand up
02:05and make life difficult, you know, for the selectors.
02:09Yeah, I mean, like I said, you know, Natish, I always encourage the guys to go out
02:13and when they get the opportunity to work and develop their own game,
02:18look at areas where they can improve and Natish did that.
02:21You know, it was from a technical point of view to get him a little bit better,
02:24to create more balance so the energy flows down the wicket or it's thinking,
02:29you know, in both departments there's this improvement.
02:33So, yeah, we're excited for him to get an opportunity and see how, you know,
02:37that he puts that together on the international stage.
02:40And, yeah, it's always nice to have that extra helping hand.
02:44And Asai's obviously, he's got a lot of heaps of experience
02:47and his knowledge about the game is right up there.
02:50So, for him and a different voice in the change room and in the meetings room
02:53is always nice and, you know, we all keep on working together
02:56and balance ideas from each other.
02:58And at the end of the day, it's the best for Indian cricket.
03:00You know, it's not just my voice, it's whoever comes into the system.
03:04How can we make this group better?
03:06How can we keep on winning and ultimately lift our trophies?
03:09So, great to have extra help.
03:12And Rowert, I don't even notice that.
03:15It just shows that I don't think there's any issue.
03:18He's passed all his fitness list.
03:19He's cleared and ready to go.
03:21I think, you know, obviously the boys,
03:23the bulls are coming at high speeds and you want to protect yourself
03:26even if there is a slight niggle.
03:29But I can assure you there's nothing wrong.
03:31Rowert is moving well and training well.
03:33So, excited to see him go.
03:36And in terms of that number three slot,
03:38I think that's something that, in this series,
03:41we'll play around with.
03:43You know, even if it's Ishan or Kael or Yashas B.
03:46It's a nice opportunity now.
03:48We've got, you know, a couple of one-day games coming up.
03:51And we'll give guys opportunity in different slots.
03:55Just to give ourselves, you know, a better idea
03:58in terms of how we can go and structure teams
04:00and have different options.
04:01Look, first of all, I mean, we take the focus,
04:07we bring the focus to us and what we need to build on
04:10regarding the bigger picture down the line.
04:12So, a lot of our focus, a lot of our training,
04:14the way we go, the way we play the game,
04:17is going to be sort of internal and focus on us
04:23and not so much on the opposition.
04:25But saying that, you know, Afghanistan, their white ball record,
04:28is very good.
04:30We've seen in the World Cup, you know, what they can do on the day.
04:35So, there's obviously a lot of respect for this team.
04:37They've got, you know, a lot of quality in their side.
04:41It's better with the bat.
04:42A lot of dangerous players.
04:43So, we need to be on top of the game.
04:45We can't expect just to land the ball in the area
04:49and think things are going to happen
04:51and that was the same message in a test match.
04:53And I think the guys took that message on board in the Red Bull game.
04:57And hopefully we can take that now into the next sort of week and a half.
05:02My first impressions, it is sort of, you know,
05:06almost like felt like they've been part of this squad for five years.
05:11You know, I saw no nervousness in their face.
05:13Although, you know, I can imagine coming into this squad,
05:17they would be pretty, pretty, pretty nervous.
05:19But I think the way they've gone about training,
05:22the way they've, the energy they've trained with,
05:24this was very, very nice and good to see.
05:27In terms of their skills, I can also see that they've done a lot of work on that.
05:32And they were on the money, accurate.
05:35And that was, sort of, makes my life a little bit easier.
05:38You know, obviously from there now, from here on,
05:40we'll develop their games and sort of have conversations
05:43of how we can play that middle phase
05:45and with the power plays and the depth,
05:47how we can, we can, we can do that better.
05:49But definitely, on first impressions,
05:51very happy with what we saw as a group.
05:54Now it's just exciting, you know, to get them ready
05:56and give them the best opportunity to go out and perform
05:59when they, when they get that pickle.
06:01Yeah, I mean, obviously there was heavy rains last night.
06:04So, and I think there'll be weather around for the,
06:08you know, to be forecasted for tomorrow.
06:12So, you know, there will be a bit of moisture in the air.
06:17Yeah, like I think the toss is something that we can't control.
06:21We just need to try and put our best, sort of, foot forward in this game
06:26with batting and bowling.
06:28You know, if we start well with the bat, we start well with the ball.
06:30Just, you know, putting those basics well in place from the start.
06:34And, of course, like I say, we'll, we'll see what happens there.
06:37But, for me, it's just taking the learnings from South Africa,
06:40taking the learnings from New Zealand,
06:42and looking for improvement in the national idea,
06:45especially in our 15-week app.
06:47And that's, that's a goal now for Afghanistan, for West Indies.
06:51That's looking for small improvements and making sure
06:54when we come in the World Cup,
06:56we're peaking at the right time.
