00:01Visitors are being given the opportunity to step inside the Cunard building
00:05and explore more of its history for themselves.
00:07To coincide with the visit of Cunard's newest ship, Queen Anne,
00:11the Grade 2 listed building will host a special heritage market
00:14and a series of exclusive guided tours.
00:16The market will take place in the building's historic arrivals hall
00:19and will feature around 50 local traders selling products
00:21including food, drink, artwork, jewellery and gifts.
00:25Entry to the market is free with organisers expecting it to attract
00:28both local residents and visitors exploring the waterfront.
00:31Alongside the market, pre-booked tours will take guests behind the scenes
00:35into areas of the building that are normally closed to the public.
00:39Visitors will be able to explore the former arrivals lounge,
00:42learn about the building's role in maritime travel
00:44and visit basement areas that were later used as air raid shelters
00:48during the Second World War.
00:50Liverpool City Council says the tours offer a unique opportunity
00:53to discover more about one of the city's most important landmarks
00:56and its place within Liverpool's maritime story.
