00:00There's been a couple of announcements by France in the last few weeks about two high-profile
00:04Israeli politicians who are essentially barred from entering French territory. I'm talking about
00:09the finance minister, Bezalel Smotrich, and the national security minister, Etemar Ben-Gavir.
00:16Do you believe that banning these two individuals from entering France actually weakens or strengthens
00:23France's role in trying to find a solution to the conflict that's engulfed the region?
00:28We take the question in the other way. We just see how we can have an impact on the red
00:37lines
00:37that are drawn in the region. The escalation in terms of violence in the West Bank or the
00:47possibility to go into the phase two in Gaza are really things that we want to avoid. So that's
00:55why we have pushed forward a third step of sanctions at the European Union level. That was two weeks
01:02ago. That's why we also have taken an individual measure against Minister Ben-Gavir two weeks ago
01:11when everyone saw this video where he was treating members of the flotilla that was trying to reach
01:18Gaza banks and that was treating in a totally unrespected way. And yesterday we took some measures with
01:26other countries such as the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia to have individual measures against
01:35Minister Smotrich and other actually persons responsible for the colonization in the West Bank.
01:42There will be future discussions at the EU level next week when there will be a ministerial meeting
01:49for foreign affairs. What is important here is to see how we can, it's not sanction for sanctioning,
01:58it's just to say, okay, how we can have a change of position using these measures when things are unacceptable.
