00:00I do want to go back to the earlier part of your career, Melissa, because the first thing that got
00:06me was your voice.
00:07You know, when somebody bring me some water came out, I'm like, wow, listen to that.
00:11But then, you know, when you started having multiple hits, the lyrics really started to speak to me.
00:18And one of them was, I want to come over.
00:20I've just always loved that, that the way you very simply, and I mean that as a compliment, articulated, I
00:27want to come over to hell with the consequence.
00:29It really spoke to me.
00:30When you are writing those, I'm sure you're not thinking about other people identifying and realizing that someone else has
00:37put into words what they could not.
00:39But that's got to feel pretty good when you hear people reflect that back to you.
00:44Oh, so much.
00:45That has always been my goal.
00:47I had an English teacher in high school that said, don't write just directly for the masses.
00:54Write just above them so that they are inspired.
00:56And I took that very seriously.
01:00And thank you because that's what I want to do is inspire.
