00:00Is America becoming more puritanical? A new Gallup poll suggests the country may be taking
00:05a more conservative view on a range of social issues. The share of Americans who say birth
00:10control is morally acceptable fell to a record low of 83 percent. That's down seven points in
00:15just one year. Support for having children outside of marriage also dropped sharply,
00:20falling from 70 percent just a few years ago to 58 percent today. And fewer Americans now say
00:24gambling, teen sex, and doctor-assisted suicide are morally acceptable. The findings come after
00:30decades of Americans becoming more tolerant of these kinds of issues. But according to Gallup,
00:34that trend has either stalled or started to reverse.
