00:00The scenes that we all saw last night were nothing short of disgraceful.
00:04Families fleeing their homes as masked men set fire to their houses.
00:08Their possessions, their cars, everything they owned, decimated.
00:12The video this morning of children being led from their home under protection of police in Radgear,
00:16carrying nothing but a teddy bear, genuinely broke my heart to watch as a mother and as a grandmother,
00:21and I'm sure yours too.
00:23Hard working businesses, some of which just opened their doors after being targeted last year,
00:27again set fire too.
00:29None of this, none of this is about community.
00:32Not one single bit of it.
00:34There's nothing community orientated about terrorising innocent and defenceless families
00:38who are fearing for their lives.
00:40It is thuggery, plain and simple.
00:43The attack in North Belfast was heinous and it was absolutely wrong.
00:48But what we are now witnessing is that attack being exploited by dangerous and reckless people
00:53to target innocent people who had absolutely nothing to do with it.
00:58People who are simply trying to live here, work here and raise their families here.
01:03Racism is wrong, intimidation is wrong and violence is wrong.
01:08There can be no excuse or no justification for what we witnessed last night.
01:13I have been and remain in constant contact with representatives on the ground,
01:17supporting people, with the PSNA Chief Constable, with the British Prime Minister this morning,
01:22with the Secretary of State and with everyone that we need to speak with.
01:26And I will continue to do everything that I can to support local communities through this horrific period.
