00:00given that this is such a popular book was were there certain scenes from the book that you were
00:04most excited to bring to life on screen i know this series does a job paying tribute to the book
00:10i think for me anything swimming i was really excited to do i mean i think in the actual
00:16dipping of it it was it was an interesting challenge because it was we were in this
00:20beautiful we're at minati bay it was beautiful glacier fed lake so it was cold but um i'm
00:27really proud of us we we mastered the skill of outside swimming yeah resilient water swimming
00:32um and also the uh the chemistry scene the anatomy yeah the anatomy anatomy i think that was
00:42one that was almost like one-to-one for how we how we did it did you learn anything else
00:47from that book
00:47of yours want to enlighten me genius yeah i think for me it was all of the big like
00:58fan favorite book moments like the you came home moment the anatomy textbook scene
01:12you came home any of that stuff but particularly the stuff with you know with sadie and and those
01:19big moments uh you know at the tavern and and you know when they have their they have so many
01:24firsts
01:24in the book and yeah so many firsts in the show and so those moments obviously were like a lot
01:29of time
01:30and precious energy were put into those how literally were you taking it from the book and
01:34then transporting it to on screen or how much of yourselves i guess did you insert into those like
01:40really popular scenes yeah i think it was important to all of us like to try to keep it as
01:46accurate to
01:46the book as possible obviously there's certain things that change when you're adapting a book to
01:50a tv show certain things that you have to change just because the medium is different but
01:54um i think to a degree we were all on the same understanding that that we wanted it to be
01:59as
02:00accurate as possible to the book and um i i know for me in the you came home scene it
02:05was like when i
02:06turn around and look at at at sadie i'm sure i was like trying to think of any moment i
02:12could of seeing
02:13like you know someone when i was in a relationship i was just like trying to throw myself into it
02:18as much
02:18as possible to try to get myself there but um yeah i think what was so brilliant about i mean
02:25we
02:25had the book with us on set is like all the a lot of the work that you do as
02:31the actor in preparation
02:32for the for the role like a lot of it was done for us because like it had i mean
02:37especially percy all
02:38her thoughts and feelings and and worries and secrets kind of written out in this bible um so i think
02:46when i felt unsure i really i really turned to that and it was so helpful and so brilliant yeah
02:53and with such a huge fan base for this book did you feel any pressure to do it justice absolutely
02:58i
02:59mean we're both like huge fans of the book so we know how important it is to have these characters
03:05represented in a meaningful way um yeah but i think it was helped a lot by the fact that carly
03:13was so
03:13present in the creation of the show it's such a faithful adaptation and i think the differences
03:20are just expansions of of the world and um these characters that we love yeah yeah i think having
03:27carly's kind of overall approval on everything relieved a whole lot of the pressure that inherently
03:33we were putting on ourselves but um but we but we wanted to make sure we did it justice and
03:39we did it
03:39right and i think carly like giving the thumbs up to so many different things was just like always such
03:44a sigh of relief and i saw an interview with carly fortune where she was talking about your chemistry
03:49reads and how they took place over zoom um can you take me through that experience yeah yeah our first
03:56the first time we met was in a chemistry read on zoom and we have we have 10 minutes they're
04:01like
04:01you have 10 minutes you guys just sit in this room and just chat on zoom for a second so
04:06we talked about random stuff and i drooled over how cool her accent was and i i i'm telling you're
04:14the you're the first like british actor i've worked with so i was like it's so cool to work with
04:18someone
04:18with an accent like yeah um yeah you're kind of you're kind of in the middle of nowhere yeah i
04:25was
04:25in the middle where are you i was terrified that my wi-fi was going to drop out i was
04:29in the middle of
04:29the woods filming a movie at the time and i was in my trailer on my lunch break and they
04:34had to
04:34like bring in a wi-fi router so that i had good i was like guys this is important i
04:38was so stressed
04:39i was like this man is yeah you're lovely and we got on really well yeah um yeah amy b

04:45actually has said she sees this show going on for five seasons she kind of has a plan in her
04:50head
04:50what do you see in percy and sam's future if the series does get picked up for future seasons
04:56yeah i think there's so many things that i i would want to see obviously you know for people who
05:01have read the second book one golden summer there's you know there's kind of mention of
05:05where sam and percy are at in that time and i know that's you know a few years have passed
05:09at that
05:09point so i think i would love to see you know in the immediate seasons to come if we're able
05:14to do
05:15more i would love to see kind of the in-between of that and see that uh relationship kind of
05:20re-blossom
05:21and and watch them kind of have to start from the beginning and and really retrusting each other and
05:26getting comfortable around each other dan and just like reforming a friendship yeah expansions on
05:32everyone's stories i mean all those relationships like chantal and geordie and um delilah's story and
05:41what she's up to and maybe alice as well yeah see you that's alice
