00:00The Senate Impeachment Court has scheduled the pre-trial conference for the impeachment case against Vice President Sara Duterte on
00:07June 18, marking the next stage in the proceedings ahead of the trial proper.
00:13Presiding Officer and Acting Senate President Sherwin Gatchalian, in a notice issued on Tuesday, June 9, directed the parties to
00:20appear at 9 a.m. at the Senator Claro M. Rector Room in the Senate building for the conference.
00:26The proceedings will be conducted before the Secretary of the Senate, who serves as the impeachment court clerk, to whom
00:33the parties will submit their pre-trial outlines.
00:36They also must serve copies on the opposing side no later than June 15.
00:40The parties are required to attend personally or through council to discuss and resolve matters including the stipulation of facts,
00:48simplification of issues, marking of documentary and real evidence, identification of witnesses, setting of trial dates, and the sequence of
00:57presentation of evidence.
01:00The notice also said the conference proceedings will not be open to the media or the public to give the
01:05parties and their lawyers the widest freedom and latitude in achieving the objectives of the pre-trial.
