00:37A week later Mollen is defending herself in a substack post titled,
00:41The Love That Breaks Us, writing,
00:44Last week the internet called me a child molester for posting a photo of myself holding my son.
00:50The picture was taken on a Monday night after he returned from a weekend away.
00:55The celebrity mom also brushed off the cringy comment as a joke.
00:59The joke that offended people was your eldest son will be the most toxic boyfriend you ever have
01:05and he is. Parenthood has demanded a level of commitment and self-sacrifice from me that
01:10in any other context would be considered pathological. I'd never accept this kind of relationship under
01:16other circumstances and yet here I am jumping through fire constantly striving for affection
01:22and approval waiting by the phone for a guy who can't even drive.
01:27The comedian claimed that she's been making some version of this joke for over a decade
01:31but recognized that her humor is not for everyone.
01:35On a more serious note she said that closeness and connection can be challenging between parents
01:41and kids around that age adding this warning,
01:44Don't let anyone shame you for holding on while you still can.
01:48Mollen shares two kids with American Pie actor Jason Biggs,
01:52Sid is 12 and Lazlo is 8.
01:55As of May of 2026 Page Six confirmed that the former couple had parted ways
02:00after 18 years of marriage. A spokesperson said they remain on good terms and are committed to co-parenting.
