00:00Now on to our pilot, two-time flyer, ISA astronaut, the first Italian space station commander, an Italian Air Force
00:10colonel and test pilot, Luca Parmitano.
00:58AVAILABLE NOW
01:07I apologize in advance if I get emotional.
01:12I'm honored by the role that I've been given.
01:15I'm also very humbled by the task in front of us.
01:19But first and foremost, I'm grateful.
01:22There are many parts that need to come together for a space launch.
01:27And you need a launch pad.
01:30And for me, that launch pad is my country, Italy, its education system, the Italian Air Force that gave me
01:37the professional tools to bring me here today.
01:40The Italian Space Agency that gave me the first flight to put those skills to proof.
01:45And for that, I'm very grateful.
01:49The European Space Agency is like a launch tower connecting these two worlds, building bridges.
01:58It's very natural to build relationships and building bridges, connections, and to elevate individuals to achieve their full potential.
02:09The rocket, figuratively and literally, is NASA.
02:14I'm grateful that NASA has allowed me to be part of this incredible group of people, of this crew, and
02:21for letting me fly.
02:22But we wouldn't be going anywhere without fuel.
02:27And the fuel that lets everything move is right here.
02:31Maya, Sarah, Marta, my extended family here in the crowd.
02:38You are the energy that feeds my soul.
02:45And your love is the spark that ignites every passion.
02:48Thank you.
02:49Grazie.
02:50Grazie.
03:12Grazie.
03:42Grazie.
03:42Grazie.
03:43Grazie.
03:48Grazie.
03:48Grazie.
03:48Grazie.
