00:01Nationals have made road a home away from home and another victorious series you keep stacking road series victories and
00:09you're going to come out looking pretty good. Their most consistent starter on the mound Logan Webb. He landed on
00:14the aisle briefly came back has made a couple starts. His last time was really good and you know what
00:19you're going to get from this guy every single time out. Logan Webb will take the ball for the Giants
00:24tonight as he starts his six game homestand. Let's take a look at what he has done in 10 starts
00:29this year three and four with a
00:29four to five. Yeah. All right. You're going to miss. But that's how this game gets started. You can't throw
00:35a better back foot sweeper than this. Now the two and two pitch. Swing and a miss. He struck him
00:40out with the changeup. He's on pace to strike you out 27 guys. For Richard Lovelady. Fifth start. Fifth open
00:47of the year. Twenty six game two and three three one two ERA. And he's got a base hit into
00:53right center field. Lead off single for the Giants. He lines it into center field.
00:59And Arise figures that they have to throw it across the strike zone and if they do I could get
01:03it. Two on two out. No score. Here's John who had a great bro trip. Lee on the trip had
01:09forty one at bats. Forty one. And he picked up twenty three hits. Swing a line drive left field. Racing
01:15on in is Lyle. He's there and he makes a running catch. Moving it into his right toward the line.
01:20So Lovelady survives trouble. Fourteen pitches for Logan Webb in his first inning. Three two pitch. Swing and a miss.
01:27Man.
01:27A slider with some nasty break to it. That ran right out of the strike zone. Got him. Ball squirts
01:36away. Also tag him. Four strikeouts. And now the book guy. Miles Michaelis.
01:43Yeah. Fourteenth game on the year. One and five. Six three nine ERA. The 0-1. So we had a
01:48towering pop up on the into shallow center. Nunez and Abrams going out. Who will take it? Abrams reaches and
01:55makes the catch and then juggles it. Grabs it with his throwing hand. That a bit of an adventure thanks
02:00to the wind. The wind kept pushing it. Nunez had a bead. Abrams calls him off and kind of juggled
02:05it a bit but held on.
02:06And he's the first base runner of the night for the Nationals. And now it will be Jorbit Bibas getting
02:11the start at third base for the 21st time this year. 1-0. That one is lined to short. Caught
02:17by Adamas. He'll throw the first. In time. Double play. Ruiz got caught off the bag and Adamas showed off
02:24his great arm. It's a hard loud contact but right to the defense. That's a second hard liner to short.
02:30No score. Bottom of the third. Gilbert the ninth place hitter. Then Schmidt and Devers.
02:35This is fair down the left field line. Gilbert is on the move. He will head into second and there's
02:43the leadoff double. Doesn't get any better than that. This is not a pitch out over the plate. It's off
02:49plate away. He's trying to backdoor a little cutter. Hangs it at the belt. On the play Gilbert goes to
02:53third. Infield comes in. Devers great chance to put the Giants ahead. Jammed him into a pop up. Abrams will
03:01take charge and he has it for the second out. Right back.
03:04Back in there. Down and in. Devers the second out. And the pitch. Swing and a fly ball. Right center
03:09field. Sending Wood back to the triples alleyway there. And he makes the catch for the out. And the inning
03:15is over. Good job by Michaelis. A leadoff double. That runner ends up being stranded at third. Jung-Hoo Lee.
03:22Grounds one into right field. Base hit.
03:25So the hit streak goes on for Jung-Hoo. Got the longest active hit streak in the big leagues. It's
03:31now 16 games. Eldridge rounded out to the shortstop. Abrams. His only time up in the second.
03:37Out to left center. A lot of room out there. Lyle and Cruz collide. And Dylan Cruz makes the catch.
03:46Back to the bag at first is Jung-Hoo Lee. Both guys making a good effort. Dylan Cruz comes away
03:52with the baseball.
03:52Obviously different times. But it almost looked like last year's World Series.
03:57With Andy Pajas out there in center field. And Kike Hernandez in left field.
04:01Andy Pajas made the catch. Dylan Cruz made the catch.
04:04The 0-1. Chapman hits a hard ground ball. Base hit into right field.
04:08Lee's going to turn around second and head for third.
04:11Wood comes toward the foul line to pick the ball up.
04:14And throws it back in. Jung-Hoo all the way to third.
04:17Chapman's got another hit.
04:18That was 111 off the bat of Chapman the other way.
04:22Giants have first and third with two down.
04:24I think when Haas is going right, I mean, he's got a lot of power.
04:27He's already hit four home runs.
04:30Haas out to center. Dylan Cruz freezes.
04:32Now drifts back with it.
04:35Settles under it. Makes the catch.
04:36And it's 0-0. No score here in the sixth inning.
04:39Dayoff offering from Webb to Wood.
04:42Drilled back up the middle.
04:44Second ball squared up by James Wood here tonight.
04:46This one, a two-out single in the sixth.
04:50114 off the bat of James Wood.
04:52Again.
04:53And there he goes.
04:54Threw it out by Haas.
04:56Not in time.
04:57And Wood into scoring position.
04:59He fouled that ball off his leg a few days ago in Arizona.
05:02He hit his chin.
05:03Oh, he's bleeding a little bit.
05:05He got stuck.
05:07This wet, I mean, it gets wet out there.
05:08And you stick.
05:09So in the scoring position for Garcia, who grounds one through the hole right side.
05:14Wood will be sent to the plate.
05:16Throw coming from Jung-Hoo Lee.
05:18Not in time.
05:20Wood tumbles across the plate.
05:21Garcia to second.
05:23And the Nationals have a lead.
05:25A two-out knock, a stolen base, and an RBI single from Garcia.
05:29Well, good job right here by Luis Garcia, Jr.
05:32James got caught up a little bit at second base.
05:34Didn't have the greatest of secondaries.
05:36See how wide he gets out there.
05:37We haven't seen that from the guys a whole lot this year.
05:40New pitcher for the Nationals is Mitchell Parker.
05:43It's his 16th appearance of the year.
05:45Two and two record at a 5.23 ERA.
05:48And another hit for Jung-Hoo Lee.
05:52He could hit.
05:53It's his second hit.
05:56He's now two for three.
05:58Now here's Bryce Eldridge.
06:00Lefty versus lefty.
06:01The pitch.
06:02Swing.
06:02Wide drive.
06:03Base hit into right center field.
06:05Jung-Hoo Lee to second.
06:06Turns the corner.
06:07Heading for third.
06:08The ball is fielded in right center by Cruz, who spins around and throws back into second.
06:14Lee stopping at third.
06:16Eldridge, after falling behind on the count, ends up getting a base hit.
06:20He hit a pretty good pitch, too, right on the outside and hit it right over the middle.
06:25Now the Giants get Chapman up there in a real favorable matchup.
06:31And Chapman, one for two.
06:32It's been hot the last few days.
06:35And a base hit.
06:36And this game is tied.
06:39Parker has come in and he's given up three straight singles.
06:43What a great example of waiting on the breaking ball.
06:47The only way you do this is if you see it early.
06:49Wait, stay back.
06:50And it just drops right in the kill zone and he wears it out.
06:54It's one to one.
06:56Logan Webb is still in this game.
06:57It's one to one.
06:58We go to the eighth inning.
06:59Swing and a miss.
07:00He struck it out with a changeout.
07:01Eight strong for Logan Webb.
07:04And that's his seventh strikeout with nary a walk.
07:090-2.
07:11A little dribbler out in front of home plate.
07:14Spins, throws.
07:16Got him.
07:17Oh, look at that one.
07:18Shane Robinson, the first base coach for the Giants, immediately put up a finger.
07:23And they're going to test it.
07:24Take a look at this.
07:27He's safe.
07:30So the error on the throw by the pitcher.
07:34Now Lee in scoring position.
07:36Eldridge is grounded as short.
07:37Went all the way to the left center field wall where the ball was caught with a leap and a
07:41collision.
07:42Swing.
07:43Wide drive down the left field line.
07:45Base hit.
07:45It's going to skip through and go to the corner.
07:48It bounces away from the left fielder.
07:50Lee scores.
07:51Coming around second and stopping is Eldridge.
07:55And the Giants are on top 2-1.
07:58Their first lead of the game.
08:01On a two-strike pitch, Eldridge sliced one down the left field line.
08:08And the beater, he reached back for everything he had.
08:11He'd been throwing 93-94.
08:13That was 97 miles an hour.
08:16And Eldridge just scalded it into the left field corner.
08:19A high curveball.
08:20A hit as he tried to duck under it.
08:22That hit right off the top of his helmet.
08:26And this is a good effort.
08:29Job well done.
08:31Job well done.
08:32Eldridge the third.
08:34Chapman the second.
08:35And here's Jonah Cox.
08:37The bunt.
08:39The run.
08:41The out.
08:43It's 3-1.
08:44That's a good call.
08:45I expect that out of an old bunter.
08:47It'll be Keaton Wynn to try to get the last three outs.
08:50He's only had one attempt at a save this year.
08:53And he cashed in on it.
08:54This is his 29th appearance.
08:55Garcia sends one to deep center.
08:57Back on it is Cox.
08:59At the wall.
08:59It's off the top of the wall.
09:02Garcia into second.
09:04That'll bring the potential tying run to the plate here.
09:07Hit by a pitch and a two-strike count.
09:09And that puts two on with one out for C.J. Abrams.
09:14Takes this one down and in and it gets past Haas.
09:17Two runners will move up and the tying run now in scoring position.
09:21So now a base hit to the outfield could tie the game with one out on the top of the
09:25ninth.
09:262-0.
09:27And on the ground up the middle.
09:29This is going to tie the game.
09:32Garcia intended to the plate.
09:34And it's 3-3.
09:35Top nine.
09:37C.J. does it again.
09:38RBI is number 50 at 51.
09:40Splitter top of the zone.
09:42Just enough.
09:43Expand it.
09:44101 off the bat.
09:46Abrams in scoring position.
09:47Two outs now for Daylon Lyle.
09:49Swing and a line drive.
09:50It's a base hit in the right center field.
09:52Abrams rounding third.
09:54He will score.
09:55The Nationals lead.
09:56Daylon Lyle delivers.
09:58It's 4-3 Nationals.
09:59They're going crazy in the first base side dugout.
10:02What a rally here in the ninth inning.
10:05Abrams ties in with a two-run single.
10:07Steals second.
10:08And Lyle brings him in to put the Nationals in front.
10:10And now here's Gus Varland.
10:12It'll be a big boy save if he's to get it.
10:14They'll face Devers, Arise, and Adamas.
10:18Two high, ball four.
10:21And another hit.
10:25Devers is going to go to third, and it's going to be up to the rookie.
10:30Now he's at third.
10:30If Eldridge can get a hit, you've got the game tied.
10:33And Eldridge is swinging the bat really well.
10:36Fastball got him, and the ball game is over.
10:39The Nationals storm back with three in the ninth and win their first ball game this season when trailing after
10:45eight innings.
10:45Look at the boys get excited.
10:48What a victory today.
