Christopher Lee-Power, a Wirral father, recalled that the March twenty seventeen explosion in New Ferry felt like a war zone, likening it to a car bomb.

On the twenty-fifth of March, twenty seventeen, Pascal Blasio tampered with a gas valve on Bebington Road, causing a blast that damaged sixty-three properties and injured eighty-one people.

The regeneration project, led by Wirral Council and partners, is building new homes on the former blast site, symbolising the community’s phoenix‑like rise.

Leaders applaud the completion of new homes, saying they cement the town’s resurgence and stand as a testament to Wirral’s enduring spirit after the twenty seventeen explosion.
