00:00Netflix just dropped Thrash, and if you watched all the way to the end, you already know the
00:05shark movie is not done with you yet, so let us talk about whether Thrash 2 was actually happening.
00:10For anyone who meets the quick rundown, Thrash is a shark-infested survival thriller written
00:14and directed by Norwegian filmmaker Tommy Rokola. The story follows a group of South Carolina
00:21residents who make the very questionable decision to stay home during a Category 5 hurricane.
00:27The levees break, the town floods, and as if that was not enough, bloodthirsty sharks are now
00:33swinging through the wreckage. Cheesy? Absolutely. A blast to watch? Also absolutely. The cast brings
00:40real weight to all the chaos. Phoebe Dynavore plays Lisa, a very pregnant woman trapped in a car.
00:48Whitney Peake plays Dakota, an agoraphobic teenager who sets up big when it matters.
00:53Jimon Hounsou plays Dale, Dakota's uncle and, conveniently, a marine biologist.
00:59Rounding things out are Stacy Clausen, Delilah Browne, and Dante Ubaldi as a group of siblings
01:06abandoned by their foster parents right in the middle of the storm.
01:09Now, without that ending, without going full spoiler mode, the final scene puts an even bigger hurricane
01:16already on the radar, heading straight for the east coast, just hours after the first storm cleared.
01:21No peaceful sunset for our survivors.
01:24The movie is very deliberately leaving the door wide open for a sequel, so will Thrash 2 actually
01:29happen. Right now, there is no official confirmation. But, producer Adam McKay spoke about it on the
01:36Discourse podcast and did not shut the idea down at all. He pointed to the growing number of extreme
01:42weather events worldwide as endless material for follow-up, saying, and I am quoting,
01:47the idea of telling the story of nature out of balance, you could do an endless amount of sequels.
01:53The interest is clearly there. Whether Netflix pulls the trigger depends almost entirely on how the
02:00first film performs on the SoClaire platform. As for a Thrash 2 release date, there is not one yet,
02:08but if it gets greenlit, 2027 is the earliest realistic window. Thrash threw shum in the water.
02:15Now we wait to see if Netflix fights. If you found this helpful, like the video and subscribe.
02:20I will have updates the moment anything drops. See you in the next one.
