00:28Das ist richtig, es ist passiert.
00:29In einer der meisten Requested Updates in unserer Geschichte, PlayerAvatarRefresh kommt zu RuneScape.
00:36Earlier this year, we kicked off the road to restoration with one goal in mind.
00:42To restore what makes RuneScape special, and give it the care and attention it deserves.
00:48This means strengthening our foundations, refocusing on the core experience as a whole,
00:54and setting RuneScape on course for the future it deserves.
00:58And we're proud to say, the PlayerAvatarRefresh marks one of the biggest milestones in this journey so far.
01:06Now, while we're only four months into the road to restoration, a lot has changed already.
01:13Let's recap. In case you missed it, Treasure Hunter is officially gone.
01:19No more chests, no more keys. It's just you, your time, and your achievements.
01:24The UI had a bit of a refresh too, with a cleaner, more versatile layout, and a fresher look that
01:31feels closer to the RuneScape you remember.
01:34We've also gone back to some of the free-to-play locations you grew up with, and given them a
01:38much-needed makeover.
01:40This includes the likes of Lumbridge, Varrock, Balador, and Draenor.
01:45These are all the places where a lot of us started out, and now they feel more at home in
01:49the world.
01:51RuneMetric's in-game functionality is now also completely free for all our members, giving you more tools to understand and
01:59track your progress.
02:00Cosmetic toggle options hit the game too, so if you ever wanted a clearer view of the world and players
02:06around you by hiding other players' worn customizations, you've got it.
02:11And if you've ever wondered what Mod Anvil looks like without all the overrides, yeah, just be careful what you
02:17wish for, eh?
02:19Combat had a big step forward too, with the recent Combat Style Modernization update.
02:25Melee, Ranged, and Magic have all been modernized, and now all four styles sit much closer to where they should.
02:33And we're seeing more and more players use each style in a way we haven't for a long time.
02:39We've also cleaned up a host of obtrusive visual effects across the board, with a focus on less clutter and
02:46more clarity, as combat should always feel readable and not overwhelming.
02:50And alongside all of that, circles are out and squares are back in, which feels right, given we are a
02:56tile-based game after all.
02:58We've also spent a lot of time rebalancing the early game experience.
03:01Those first steps in Gilinor really matter, and it should now feel a lot smoother and easier for new and
03:07returning players to get into.
03:09And we're already seeing new adventurers find their footing faster than before, which is amazing to see.
03:15Dailyscape has changed a lot too.
03:17Runescape should always be a game you jump on because you want to be here, not because of a checklist.
03:22So we've pulled back that pressure.
03:24And we're seeing players now spending more time doing what they enjoy without the constant sense of needing to check
03:29things off.
03:30Auras have also had a big overhaul.
03:33While they were powerful, they also added a lot of friction and complexity to the game.
03:38It often felt like you needed to do extra prep before you even started playing.
03:42And then you have this extra pressure when you were playing.
03:46This is something we needed to change.
03:49So we've simplified things.
03:51The aura slot is now gone, and many of the most useful auras and benefits have been woven into the
03:57game more naturally as part of your core progression.
04:00And it's not just about the big stuff either.
04:02Week by week, there have been smaller updates too.
04:05From game jam ideas through to quality of life changes.
04:08And you'll probably have come across a few of these as part of the Road to Restoration.
04:13Alongside that, we've started sharing more of what's coming up with the monthly update videos.
04:18So it's a bit easier to stay in the loop and get involved in where things go next.
04:22And we're not slowing down there.
04:24There's a lot more coming to Runescape as part of the Road to Restoration later this year.
04:28We have GE improvements on their way.
04:31Mid and late game rebalancing too.
04:34A proper deep clean and better social systems are in the works.
04:39And the MTX item banishment.
04:41And last but not least, we're super excited about Runescape API plugin support, which is on its way.
04:48Opening the door for the community to shape how you experience Runescape day to day.
04:53All of this is part of the same journey to continue to restore Runescape step by step.
04:59Bringing our game back to a place feels right.
05:02And with that in mind, let's get into the Player Avatar.
05:07The Player Avatar refresh.
05:09This one has been a long time coming.
05:11While work first started back in 2021, it's been cooking for longer than we would like to admit.
05:17But now we are finally there.
05:19From the inception of the project to when we picked Player Avatar back up,
05:24we wanted to make sure that we built this together with all of you.
05:27Through live streams, blogs, and more recently, the beta, we've had a lot of chances to hear what you think
05:34and get your feedback.
05:35We appreciate your involvement, what you told us and all the patience.
05:40All these conversations have massively helped shape where the new Avatar has landed.
05:44So, what's actually changing?
05:47Firstly, the face is getting a much-needed upgrade.
05:51It's a remastered look that still feels like Runescape, a bit more grounded and expressive,
05:56and something that should sit more naturally in Ghilano and also across the wider Runescape universe too.
06:02The body models have been rebuilt from ground up to, from head to toe.
06:07So all body types feel higher fidelity, more natural in motion, and more at home in Ghilano.
06:13There's a lot more clarity in how you can customize your character as well.
06:18As part of this update, there will be a collection of refreshed hairstyles, facial hair options,
06:26and a variety-based clothing, so you can now shape your character in a way that feels like your own
06:32from the very start.
06:33With much-deserved higher fidelity, with planned more modern technology and graphics,
06:39with the classic aesthetics you all love and enjoy.
06:43Chat Heads have also had a full pass too.
06:46We wanted these to feel way more expressive, with more emotion and life brought to them.
06:51Alongside all of this, we had graphical rendering fixes going to the game recently.
06:56Materials should now feel less flat, colours are more vibrant and natural,
07:00and shadows and contrasts sit in a place where they should.
07:03It's subtle in places, but together it'll help your character feel more grounded in the world.
07:08Your character should feel like a remaster of what you've always known.
07:11Belonging in this world without feeling separate or stuck in the past feeling dated compared to our newest NPCs.
07:18This is a big moment for Runescape, and we can't wait for you to see your character in a whole
07:23new light.
07:24But more importantly, we wanted to thank you for joining us on this journey over the last four months,
07:31as this is all part of something much bigger.
07:34The road to restoration is now well underway, and there's still so much ahead of us.
07:39There is a lot we want to keep improving, and we're excited to take that journey with you.
07:45Because this isn't just about updating Runescape.
07:48It's about rebuilding a world that's worth returning to, time and time again.
