00:00Hello there and welcome to another episode of ups and downs for Maul Shadowlord and this time it is
00:07for episode 6. Yes we have started once again looking at the ups and the downs and we've only
00:15got four episodes left but so far it's been absolutely brilliant so let's get going and
00:21look at some of the ups for episode 6. So an up straight away looking at Maul training now his
00:26legs are working we can see how he meditates well his form of meditation which is training
00:33getting back into the force using his lightsaber and it was really good to see his kind of mentality
00:38in that alone time where you know he is thinking he is planning and he is sorting out what he
00:45needs
00:45to do especially now that the empire is here and it was just nice to see that scene of him
00:51having
00:51that time to himself. It was also really nice to see that dynamic between him and Rook as well
00:56and the conversations between them. I've really been enjoying this dynamic of the two of them
01:00so more of those scenes in the future please. Also I'm going to give an up to Maul looking a
01:05bit
01:06on edge. Yeah the empire is here and you can see that he is worried especially now that the
01:13inquisitors are here and Maul is aware that the inquisitors are here. For the first time in a long
01:19time we are starting to see Maul look fearful but I don't think that'll last for long. Now he knows
01:25they're there he'll have a new plan in place but it's good to see this side of Maul our favourite
01:31and hero. And again we're going to give an up to Lawson. As much as he wants to help those
01:36in need
01:36his priority which is great is always going to be his son and as much as he wants to help
01:42Daki who he
01:43sees as a fellow father at the Devon Riley will always be his first priority and he will make
01:49sure that he is safe now that the empire is here over helping others. And I really like this side
01:54of
01:54Lawson. The protective father standing up for those who need it but always putting his son first which
02:00you'll find in a lot of shows as well that usually they'll ignore family and do the greater good.
02:05This guy is a family man and he is standing up for Riley and protecting them. Love this guy.
02:10I'm not going to give it up to the teenagers getting to spend some time together and interacting.
02:15It was actually a really nice scene. Both of them worried. Both of them chatting but showing that
02:20both of them are good people. And is it safe to say there could be a little bit of romance
02:24and
02:24flirtation between the two of them? I don't know but it could happen. But they are definitely going to
02:31have at least brother sister vibes moving forwards and I can see these two having more scenes together
02:35and I'm interested to see how that dynamic works as well. Is Lawson going to end up taking Devon under
02:41his wing? Because of as I predicted Daki I don't think is going to survive but who knows how this
02:48is
02:48going to work. Is Riley going to end up having some force sensitive abilities? I hope not. I'd hate for
02:55that to happen because not everyone needs to be force sensitive. But we'll see what happens in the future.
03:00But Riley's starting to get a bit more screen time which I feel we're going to see more of in
03:04the future.
03:04But yes an up for the interaction between the two of them. I'm also going to give an up just
03:08to the
03:08father bond and Daki and Lawson. They are understanding each other. They may not agree on the course of
03:13action but they understand where each of them are coming from and that they are trying to protect
03:19their younglings as it were. And yeah really enjoying this dynamic of Lawson and Daki and I feel
03:25like this is going to grow and we'll see further in the episode. It does. They have a mutual respect
03:30for
03:30each other. But understand why maybe they can't work together at this point. And I'm going to give
03:36an up for the fact that it was a trap. Yes they let Lawson go knowing that he is going
03:42to work with
03:43the Jedi. Thinking Lawson was getting away with it but no those force echoes from the last episode
03:49I believe told Marrock that Lawson had these Jedis working with him. They trust him and if they followed
03:56him for long enough he would lead them to it. And as it seems Marrock has now found them. I'm
04:03going to
04:03give an up to the battle inside the kitchen living area as well. Very close quarters, very intimate
04:09but Daki once again shown his skill as a master Jedi. And it was really nice to see like a
04:15very close
04:16knit close quarters battle. Usually there's a bit more open space but this one really shown the skills
04:22of everyone involved and how seasoned they are is Inquisitors, Jedi, Padawans and fighting off Marrock
04:30as well. Devon again stepping up and showing her skills. Daki really has trained her well. But is it
04:38well enough to dissuade her from all? Well we don't know. I'm going to give it up to Devon as
04:42well. We've
04:43talked about it before but yes she's really coming into her own. She's really standing up. She's taking on
04:49a full airship. Like come on. That is not a start now Padawan. That is someone that is ready to
04:55stand
04:55on their own. And yeah I thought Devon absolutely kicked some butt in this episode. She's done really
05:01really well. And yeah protecting Lawson and his son. She's done a good job. Deserves an up. And also
05:06let's give an up for taking the ship as well. That's pretty cool. This girl's got it and we know
05:12why Maul wants that on his side as well. Also I'm going to give an up for this scene. It
05:17just looks
05:17awesome with Marok looking over, panning away of the camera. Absolutely loved it. Thought it looked
05:24cool. I am really loving the art style. I know I've mentioned that a lot but I do. I love
05:29it. It just
05:29looks so cool. And in a nice change compared to all of the car battles we've had and vehicle battles
05:34we now have an airship battle. Nice sort of change up but we do like some fast-paced shooting
05:41in action. This show has really been amping up the action from episode one. Absolutely brilliant.
05:48Really love it. It's really keeping me engrossed. It's really keeping me interested. I feel like
05:54this season is one of the best seasons of Star Wars TV. Sorry Ando. Love you. But this is
06:02top-notch Star Wars content. And I'm going to give Devon an up for the landing as well. Especially
06:08ship that was hard to handle. She's done a really good job. Future rogue pilot? Who knows? I'm
06:14giving up for the ATAC reveal. Just stepping through. We saw one briefly early in the episode
06:20but we get a proper look at it here. And with the mixed art style and the purple backgrounds
06:25I just thought it looked really really cool. And she's back. Sol returns. So she's getting
06:30up. Really interesting character. And we get a little bit more information on her. She really
06:37really values Lawson. And we'll find out why very very soon. And we're getting it up for more spy
06:43bot sass. Trashy droids. Him hovering around. He's really on the pulse of what is happening.
06:50But yes. Love spy bot. Love the short scenes. Really sells it as a character. I'm giving it up
06:56for this one as well. I really have been enjoying the Maul and Rook interactions. Rook willing to stand
07:02up to Maul and say I don't think this is right. But Maul again has everything in hand. But he's
07:08willing to risk it all to get Devon. Which shows that he has a future plan involving her that maybe
07:15he hasn't shared with Rook. And I'm going to give it up for the Sol and Lawson Law drop. Sol
07:20used to
07:20be a bounty hunter. Lawson saying before he was a detective. I think he was a bounty hunter as well.
07:27I could be totally wrong. But why else would he be there if they weren't hunting for the same
07:32bounty? They both looked after each other. They both saved each other. Lawson is an impeccable
07:38shot. He had to have been a bounty hunter that maybe met his wife. Maybe the wife was tracking him
07:44as part of working for the Empire or back then before the Empire was a thing. But then she's moved
07:50over to the Empire. I really want more of the Lawson backstory. But I do feel he used to be
07:56a bounty
07:56hunter as well. And that's why he's so good at what he does. And he's he's changed. He became a
08:01father. It's made him more of a good guy and didn't want to be a bounty hunter anymore. Well
08:06that's the impression I'm getting anyway. But an up for the Lawson Law drop. Loved it. Also giving it
08:11up for this bit because it just made me laugh. The get ready to run. Just he knows what's going
08:16to
08:16happen. He knows the Empire. And with Sol saying if something goes wrong just run. He knows that they
08:23are going to have to run. And I just found it really funny. And up again to Lawson. His instinct
08:28before anything is to get his son to safety. And he's willing to take on the Empire to do so.
08:35Daki the same. Sending off Devon. Both of them know they need to protect their young. And they are
08:42willing to stand up against anyone in order to do so. And I'm giving it up for the quip offs.
08:47I am
08:47loving the dynamic between Daki and Lawson. The father father kind of dad jokes kind of thing.
08:53And the quick quips to each other as they're going through. Loving this dynamic. More of these two
08:59working together. It's good fun. Even though it's a tough situation with the Empire. They are still
09:05having a bit of fun with it. You can tell they are enjoying what they are doing. And just up
09:09for
09:09Spybot Spybon. And giving it up to Devon yet again. No fear. At the start of this season she was
09:16scared to stand up to Maul because she knew she would lose. Yes she has no choice here. But she's
09:22not shown fear. She is willing to step up. And she is really starting to get confidence in her
09:28ability. She's taking on a blooming Inquisitor and holding her own. These are meant to be some of the
09:33toughest people to take on. And she is shown that she can do it. She is strong with the force.
09:39And I think Maul can sense this. And again I'm just going to give an up because this scene looks
09:44absolutely amazing. The art team. The direction. The cinematography. Whatever you want to call it.
09:50This show looks so good. And it needs to get awards for how good this looks. And what an entrance
09:56from
09:57Maul. Always just appearing just when you need them. So yes that's getting up. I thought this was a
10:02really fun way for Maul to appear. And really enjoyed the ensuing battle. And then we have
10:07Devon starting to trust Maul. Really enjoyed this. You can see she is conflicted. But the enemy of my
10:15enemy. As she's been putting it. Is my friend. And again this trust building. Maul knows what he's
10:22doing. He's not saying come join me. He's just slowly building the trust. Working together.
10:28Showing that he is also against the Empire. To convince Devon to join him. But again.
10:35Absolutely amazing battle. Loved it. Also going to give an up for the lightsaber flow as well. I
10:40thought that was really cool. And nice work by Maul. And one of our final scenes in the episode.
10:45The Devon Maul standoff. You can see that Devon is conflicted. She knows she should take him out.
10:52She has the perfect opportunity to do so. But she knows it would be wrong. Maul standing down.
11:00Turning off his lightsaber. Not using it against Devon. Showing that he is willing to trust her.
11:06And she does the same. Where does this lead us in the next episode? I don't know. But I am
11:12so
11:12excited to see. Is this where Maul finally turns Devon to his mindset and his thinking? Now that she is
11:19away from Daki. Maul has the perfect opportunity to convince her. And is Lawson's son going to be the
11:26voice of reason instead of against Maul? We will see next episode. And our final scene.
11:32Marok talking to someone. Is it Darth Vader? Because that's his boss. Or is it Palpatine?
11:38Is it Sidious? We don't know. But what a cliffhanger to leave us moving into episode 7.
11:46But one episode of Maul Shadowlord. I hadn't given it any downs. That is crazy. Great scenes.
11:54Great action. Great character development. If this is how Maul Shadowlord continues. I can't see it
12:01not being an amazing finale when that comes out in two weeks. Let me know what you thought of this
