00:00We're going to talk about the absentees from this English squad now.
00:02Let's start with the obvious, Cole Palmer.
00:04Even last year, I thought we were making too much of him.
00:07Yes, he won the Club World Cup.
00:08But it allowed him to be in team selections of the year, things like that.
00:12Finally, for me, I don't know what he was doing there.
00:14I think the same top 10 Ballon d'Or lists are from my memories.
00:15Well, Cole Palmer is a great player, I'm not going to criticize him for no reason.
00:19But I think we did too much last year.
00:20It was pretty much obvious that he was going to be a guy who was going to have a great season.
00:24and who might not necessarily repeat it.
00:26The thing is, he's a number 10, so he's a number 10 who can still play the same way.
00:29He's a versatile player, and that's something you need in England.
00:31It's the level of versatility of the players.
00:33But in the number 10 position, there is Jude Bellingham,
00:35There's Morgan Rodgers and there's Eberet Chiese.
00:37From what I've read, Tourelle had reservations about his form, about his consistency.
00:41And if we combine this with the fact that this season hasn't been a great one for them...
00:45Cole Palmer,
00:45That explains why he's not in this selection.
00:47Even though it doesn't shock me, it still shocks me.
00:50because I would have thought that Tourelle would have taken it.
00:52Another absentee who will not be at the World Cup is Phil Foden.
00:55So, as far as I'm concerned about the end of the Cole Palmer hype, I can understand it quite well,
00:58It was almost predictable.
00:59But then, not seeing Phil Foden, if someone had explained that to me a year ago,
01:02I wouldn't have believed it.
01:03Unless there's an injury, of course.
01:04He lost so much playing time at City, he lost importance there.
01:08Tourelle also explained that he never managed to transfer his level of play to club level.
01:11at his level in the national team.
01:13Perhaps he's a player whose versatility may have been his downfall.
01:16because Tourelle explained it not long ago,
01:18that he no longer even knew what Phil Foden's best position really was.
01:21So, in this instance as well, he preferred to choose other profiles.
