01:29Senator Rafi Tulfo points out flaws in the testimony of 18 alleged former bodyguards.
01:34This comes during the Senate Luribon Committee's Flood Control Corruption Probe Monday, June 8.
01:39The 18 individuals, who allegedly worked for Zaldico, claimed to have delivered kickbacks to members of the Marcos family and
01:47other officials.
01:48Their testimonies came in a supposed hearing organized by the block of Senator Alan Peter Cayetano last Thursday, June 4.
01:55It seems that some of the information from these 18 porters or cargador are fed.
02:01They have a hard time telling their story on their own.
02:05Tulfo invited the 18 men to attend Monday's hearing but they did not appear.
02:09The bodyguards also claimed they were offered new iPhone 16e units in exchange for surrendering their phones during the controversy
02:16in 2024.
02:17But the iPhone 16e only became available in February 2025.
02:22Meantime, the individuals also claimed they delivered money to Mamamayang Liberal Rep. Laila Delima.
02:28But Delima was detained for 7 years and was only freed in November 2023.
02:33Delima denies receiving any money, calling the statement blatant lies.
02:37The individuals also claimed in their initial testimony Senators Loren Legarda and Mark Villar were among those who received kickbacks.
02:46But they retracted their allegation against Legarda on June 8.
02:50Tulfo points out the individuals did not mention Legarda and Villar's names during the supposed Duribon Committee hearing Thursday, June
02:564.
02:59The Senate turns over flood control contractor Curly Diskaya to police on Monday, June 8, days after a court issued
03:05a warrant of arrest against him.
03:07The turnover marks the end of Diskaya's nearly nine-month detention at the Senate.
03:12He had been held in contempt since September 2025 over inconsistent statements made during the Blue Ribbon Committee's probe into
03:18anomalous public works projects.
03:20Diskaya underwent booking procedures at the Senate, including the taking of his mugshot and fingerprints.
03:26He is set to appear before the court for the return of the warrant, after which the court will determine
03:31where he will be detained.
03:32The arrest warrant stemmed from a non-bailable malversation case filed by the Office of the Ombudsman.
03:38Investigators alleged that payments for a P53.9 million flood control project in Kalumpit, Bulacan were released without proper disbursement
03:46approval.
03:48Public schools around the country open a new academic year and roll out the three-term calendar along with policy
03:54reforms.
03:55The Department of Education is projecting 26 to 28 million enrollees for both public and private schools in school year
04:022026-2027.
04:04Public schools are required to follow the shift from a quarterly grading period system while it remains optional for private
04:10schools this year.
04:11But the change did not undergo a pilot test.
04:13DepEd will also implement other policy reforms including simplified lesson planning.
04:18A new grading system is also implemented where students must attain a raw score of 70 to 72.99 to
04:24get a passing grade of 75, a change from its previous raw score of 60.
04:29DepEd says it aims to protect instructional time in classrooms with a change in the school calendar as it deals
04:35with the country's learning crisis.
04:36Literacy assessments at the end of school year 2025-2026 showed only 48% of learners were grade-level ready.

04:51read and understand grade-level texts.

05:02Kingdom.
05:03She defeats Nikola Bartungkova of the Czech Republic in the final 5-7, 6-3, 7-5 on Sunday, June
05:107.
05:11Ayala had a woeful history against Czech players going into the final against Bartungkova.
05:16She says she was honored to win the title but notes that the achievement alone did not place her among
05:21the sports greats.
05:23Ayala adds the victory motivates her to keep working and she expressed gratitude for the role the trophy plays in
05:28her journey.
05:29She also hopes to continue her superb run as she competes in the Queen's Club Championships starting on Monday, June
05:358.
