Not only has Brittany “Flex” Watts just qualified for the Superbowl of Bodybuilding, Mr Olympia, but she is also supporting her boyfriend, Julio, training for his first competition. Brittany, 31, from Miami has been an IFBB pro for years, and now her boyfriend and training partner is joining her. Brittany's proud of Julio, but she can't help but highlight the differences between female and male bodybuilding. Prizes in the women's competitions are around $50K but men get paid a whopping $750K. Not only that, but women have to shell out $4K for their makeup, tan, nails, hair and glitzy suits, whereas men only have to spend $300 on a tan and shorts. We join Brittany and Julio for an intense workout, and a posing lesson from Brittany.

00:23How does it work being both a girlfriend and trainer?
00:26We have our Dumbo 20 to 70. My name is Brittany Watts. I'm 31 and I am an IFBB
00:36women's physique bodybuilder. In the beginning I knew nothing about
00:39bodybuilding. I just knew it looked cool so I started to get involved. My
00:43boyfriend is very supportive of my bodybuilding ambitions that's why I chose
00:47him and he's also a bodybuilder himself so when I do good he does good, when he does
00:52good, I do good.
00:59Hi guys, my name's Julio. I'm 28 years old. I'm a registered dietitian.
01:05Julio's first competition is gonna be the Ruby Classic September 26th. He's come
01:12very far and he's actually gonna go very far. He looks amazing. We started his
01:20like off-season prep last October or November so since then alone he's lost like 85 pounds.
01:27So he's two or three weeks out from his show now and he already looks great.
01:31So how does it work being both girlfriend and trainer?
01:35For me and Julio, you know, I'm not his trainer. We both have a coach, thank goodness. But you know,
01:42we are very supportive of each other. We train together, we eat together, we cook together,
01:48you know, pretty much everything together. So Julio's best body part is his legs.
01:53He's always had great legs. Like when I first met him, I was like, ooh, look at those legs.
01:59But now that he's really gotten serious about his diet and you know, his cardio and everything like that,
02:06his whole package looks great. He hasn't really fallen off at all and if he does, I just like point
02:11out the
02:11heavier weights and make him pick them up. Oh, I know he's gonna win his show. I'm gonna be in
02:14the
02:15video and it's like, yeah, man, yeah, yeah. Like, it's gonna be crazy.
02:19I do watch him pose a lot because that's very important to be able to know how to present your
02:24package.
02:25A lot of people don't put a lot of effort into their posing and it's like you don't want to
02:31just
02:31try to fill up a routine with every pose you can think of or have ever seen or been taught
02:36or learned.
02:37You want to do what looks good for you. You want to do what flows and goes with your music.
02:43The whole point is to entertain the crowd. So make sure that the song is 100% something you can
02:48relate to.
02:53It's a lot of effort, so you got to practice it in between your workouts and in your downtime because
02:59if you don't hold the poses during your practices, you're not going to be able to hold them on stage,
03:05you know, with the heat and the low pull because it's really hard to contract your muscles for that period
03:12of time
03:12and make them pop.
03:13Just as much effort needs to be put into the posing as the training and the diet.
03:18For me, motivation with bodybuilding was never really a problem.
03:22I know I want to be better than I was and I know I want to be the best.
03:25Other women and other men look up to her to be as good as she is or just to have
03:30a nice body and be healthy.
03:33Everybody wants to look good.
03:36So I remind myself of that while I'm in there.
03:39And even if for a second I do feel like, eh, I don't want to do this today.
03:42Then I think about, yeah, I do want to be better and I want to be the best.
03:45And I envision myself being that better version of myself.
03:48And I'm like, heh heh heh.
03:50Since we are five days away from the Miss Olympia, there's no rest days.
03:57So every day is a training day.
04:04So, food is low.
04:06Carbs are zero.
04:09You gon' suffer alright.
04:12It's not for the weak minded.
04:18This is gonna look really good.
04:20On stage, bling, bling, bling.
04:25Due to the fact that I'm not built like your typical woman, fashion is kind of hard for my body
04:34type now.

05:52Looking good is obviously something you want to do when you go out because we're humans.
05:56But if I'm not, you know, the cutest person in the room, it's fine.
06:00I'm 31 years old and I don't have any men to impress anymore.
06:04My man's gonna love me if I look like a bum or not.

06:10I don't know what to expect but I know I'm bringing my best package and I'm ready to see some
