00:00As the debate over artificial intelligence rages, a former Google officer is sounding the alarm.
00:05Mo Gadot, who was the chief business officer at Google X, the company's division for ambitious
00:10projects, spoke out on the diary of a CEO podcast. Gadot said, it is beyond an emergency. It's the
00:16biggest thing we need to do today. It's bigger than climate change, believe it or not. The
00:20likelihood of something incredibly disruptive happening within the next two years that can
00:24affect the entire planet is definitely larger with AI than it is with climate change.
00:29Gadot said AI would lead to massive job losses, calling for government regulation and a huge
00:35tax hike on those companies to slow down developments. Google is currently creating a competing product to
00:40chat GPT called Bard. Google CEO Sundar Pichai has written that AI is too important not to regulate
00:46well. Other tech leaders have signed an open letter calling for a six-month pause on developing AI
00:52at risk of losing control of civilization.
