00:00Does destiny exist?
00:02According to Saint Thomas Aquinas, many things seem to happen by chance.
00:06simply because we only see a small part of the plan.
00:09For example, imagine two colleagues sent separately to the same place without knowing it.
00:14For them, their meeting is a simple coincidence.
00:18They had neither planned nor wanted it.
00:20But if someone in charge had arranged their trip so that they would cross paths at that time,
00:25So this meeting was no longer a coincidence from the point of view of the one who had prepared it.
00:29It appeared accidental to colleagues, but it was part of a larger plan.
00:34Therefore, what seems fortuitous to us here below may in reality be part of a higher order.
00:40So there are two mistakes to avoid.
00:42The first is to say that everything is just chance and that there is no providence.
00:46no order.
00:47The second is to explain everything by the stars, as if the stars directly decided our lives.
00:53What happens here on earth by accident does not come from a blind force.
00:57This can be linked to the intelligence of God, who orders things even when we, from our point of view,
01:03From our perspective, we see them as unexpected.
01:05It is in this sense that we can speak of destiny, provided we do not understand it as a
01:10fatality.
