00:00Final Fantasy VII's remake series is gearing up for its third entry, but that may not be
00:04the end for the series as DLC could be on the cards, something Rebirth skipped entirely.
00:09Final Fantasy VII Remake series director Naoki Hamaguchi has explained why Final Fantasy VII
00:14Rebirth never got a DLC expansion like its predecessor, but says it's a possibility
00:18for the upcoming third game.
00:19Speaking to Entawa, Hamaguchi reveals that DLC for Rebirth was actually considered, explaining
00:24when it came to Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, we seriously considered the possibility of developing
00:29a story DLC right up until immediately before the project officially moved into the planning
00:33phase.
00:34The choice was nothing to do with Rebirth's already massive size, but was due to the fact
00:38that running development of the second installment's DLC in parallel with the third installment would
00:42inevitably affect the third game's schedule and overall quality.
00:46Despite skipping over it for the second entry, Hamaguchi hasn't ruled out the possibility
00:49for the third and final game in the series.
00:52He explains, I believe that will ultimately depend on how strongly fans continue to support
00:56Final Fantasy VII as both a title and a franchise.
00:59If there is significant demand, we'd certainly be open to exploring those possibilities proactively.
01:04Are you happy they skipped DLC to focus on the third game?
