00:00We have Lizanne Saunders here with us. She is Chief Investment Strategist at Charles Schwab.
00:03And Lizanne, a lot of people working in finance are so busy talking to clients like you are
00:07that they don't spend very much time on their own finances. What would surprise other people
00:11about your own personal investment strategy? Well, the philosophy that I think about that's
00:17most important that I think is lacking in some of the conversations having today,
00:20and I've always applied it to myself, and it ties to perhaps my love of jigsaw puzzles. And I know
00:25you might think, where is she going with this? But I often ask audiences, what's the most important
00:29part of a jigsaw puzzle? And people raise their hand, they'll say the corners, you know, the last
00:34piece. And I always say it's the picture on the box. Because try doing a 1,500-piece jigsaw puzzle
00:39without having any sense. So that's the plan. So have a plan. I don't trade. It's not that I'm not
00:46allowed to. I just don't have the time to focus on it. So there's people managing my money. I'm very
00:58long-term approach. I only make adjustments based on sort of lifestyle changes, not I don't try to time
01:05the market in the short term. How often are you checking your balance? You know, it varies.
01:10Depending on the environment. Yeah, I mean, if I go on to pay bills, then I'll see what, you know,
01:15it's
01:16flashing right up there on my Schwab statement. But I, you know, I'm not, I don't have a quick trigger.
01:23I think that, and I think too many investors, by the way, individual investors solely tie their
01:28risk tolerance to their age. Yes. And that's, that's a problem. You can be young, but if you're
01:35going to panic at the first 10% drop, you're not a, you know, risk tolerant investor. Very well said.
