00:00Well, as a matter of fact, Ed Gein is a real, was a real person that is making more terrifying
00:08than the usual horror that you can have to the cinema, the fictional horror.
00:14Yeah, I mean, I think that one of the things that we're really trying to do in this show is
00:18explore the man behind the monster. And I do think that that is scarier, you know, than a fictional character
00:25or that somebody who is sort of like this personification of evil, because that's the thing that lives out there.
00:32What we were trying to do is say, you know, who is the person inside all of us with all
00:38of the wrong things happening in any given life that can lead a person down the path to do the
00:44terrible things that Ed did.
00:46You have interpreted other villains' character, but for Ed Gein, it was possible to understand the reasons why he made
00:55all these things that he made.
00:57All of the historical texts that have been written about Ed were really this sort of celebration or this sensationalization
01:05of all of the most grotesque things that he did.
01:09And none of it was really asking why he did what he did. It was just this like real gore
01:13fest.
01:14I really believe the job of an actor is to, A, you have to believe in the story you're telling.
01:19But like, I wasn't looking to forgive Ed or be overly empathetic to what he did, but I also wasn't
01:27trying to vilify him.
