00:00All right, who wants to ask the question everyone wants to start with?
00:02How are you feeling, Caitlin, and can you take us through what happened at halftime?
00:06Yeah, I mean, a little sick, but I don't know.
00:10I tried to eat some applesauce, and then it just came up,
00:13and then everything else in my stomach also came up,
00:14so I thought I was going to stay down, and then I found a trash can, thank God,
00:19and I haven't puked that much in a really long time, so.
00:22But then I feel fine. I feel light, so I was running around feeling good in the second half,
00:26but I feel okay. Obviously, I'm losing my voice a little bit, but I'll be good.
00:30You just said you felt light. It's like you're having a lot of fun out there.
00:33Yeah.
00:33How did you feel about your game tonight?
00:36Yeah, I mean, I would have loved to shoot the ball a little bit better.
00:38I could have, you know, even if a couple more go down.
00:40I don't know that I shot it, like, horribly, but other than that,
00:43like, I feel like this is probably one of the best floor games I've played in a really long time.
00:46I thought I guarded really well.
00:47I was aggressive on defense, got us into what we wanted to get into on offense,
00:52found my teammates in spots to make them successful,
00:55so overall, I honestly thought I played a really good game,
00:58and, you know, the way we played as a team was great as well,
01:02and we got to keep doing that, and if we're able to guard like that
01:05and, you know, limit the other team to, you know,
01:07the things that they want to do really well, I think we beat them on the glass.
01:11I think we made them turn the ball over more than they turned the ball over
01:13and things like that.
01:15We're going to be really successful, so proud of our group for the way they responded.
01:18It seemed like it was a little bit cathartic.
01:20Yeah, for sure.
01:21I was going to say, would you say that that's fair?
01:22I just wanted to speak to you.
01:23Yeah, I mean, definitely.
01:25I mean, I thought, like, the first quarter, I was like, wow, it's 10 to 12,
01:29like, things like that, so, I mean, we persevered.
01:33We found a way to win.
01:35The third quarter, obviously, Kelsey, the fire that she kind of gave us
01:38and the run that we went on, I made a three,
01:40and then I think that's when we found Kelsey in transition too on the layup,
01:44so that's kind of all you need sometimes in a game is a little 8-0 burst
01:48and, you know, kept our foot on the gas through the fourth quarter,
01:51held off every push that they made, and like I said, proud of our group.
01:55I thought we played really well.
01:56Caitlin, I know we talked at nauseam last week about you and Coach White.
02:00Third quarter, timeout, you go over and, like, I don't know,
02:03it was a chest bump or a dap or whatever.
02:06One, do you ever have to kind of protect your coach in a moment like that?
02:08And number two, what does it feel like to just have that moment?
02:10She's had a lot of surgery, so I could have hurt her, honestly.
02:14I mean, she's fiery and competitive.
02:17Like, she shows passion too, and she hypes her players up.
02:19And, like, we were both just hyped, and I said, like, excuse me.
02:23My mom's going mad about that.
02:26Hopefully she doesn't see that.
02:30Oh, my mom, she's fine.
02:32But that stuff happens, and, you know,
02:35I wouldn't want to play for any other coach that's just stoic like this.
02:39Like, I love that.
02:39Like, that got me hyped, like, chest bump.
02:42I think Ty chest bumped me when I was going to the bench too, so.
02:45But I thought that was the story of the night, like, just the energy and the emotion.
02:48And, like, it felt like we were playing for the person to our left and to our right.
02:51And, you know, some games are going to stink, and you're not always going to have it,
02:55but you can still always do that.
02:56And I felt like we could have even played better and shot better,
02:58but it was because we were connected and, you know,
03:00playing for each other that we found a lot of success.
03:02Kind of on that same thing, just how important kind of just for morale in a way
03:07was it to have a complete game like this, especially after the two games last weekend.
03:11Like, I'm going to say this in the nicest way possible,
03:15but hopefully it makes a lot of people just be quiet.
03:17Like, and I know there's always going to be conversation,
03:19and I totally respect that, and I always understand that.
03:22But the world is, like, the sky is not falling.
03:24Like, and I, you know, that's the special part about being in the position that,
03:28you know, obviously I'm in and this organization is in.
03:30And, like, there's always going to be people that analyze every single thing that we do,
03:33and we would never change that.
03:34But, you know, I think people always, you know, make up stories about, you know,
03:40where our locker room is or what my teammates think or what I think
03:43or what our coaches think.
03:44But this group is connected, and, you know, we haven't been playing our best basketball.
03:49And even though we played it for one game tonight,
03:51that doesn't mean we are where we want to be.
03:53But it also shows what we're capable of and what we can do.
03:56And I think it spoke a lot to the character of the people that we have on our team
03:59and the people we have in the locker room.
04:01And, you know, it could be one of those where everybody comes out
04:04and is just still mad from the way we played or, you know, thinking about themselves.
04:08But that wasn't the case at all.
04:09You saw how selfless everybody is on this team and, you know,
04:12wanted to give for each other.
04:13So, I'm just proud of the group.
04:15Speaking of that team defense, what felt most different tonight?
04:18That was a season low.
04:19You held them underneath 30 the first half.
04:22Yeah, I mean, I think we held them under their, you know,
04:24I think I don't know the exact numbers what Ryan and Gray combined for,
04:28but it was definitely less than what they had been shooting.
04:32I don't think either of them shot the ball as well as they would have liked.
04:35And sometimes that happens.
04:36But also, they didn't get to shoot as many threes as they probably would have liked
04:39as a team.
04:39I think they shot about 20.
04:41Usually they're at closer to 30.
04:42So, just limiting attempts.
04:44Like, that's what you're just making things difficult on them.
04:46I think we cleaned up the glass better than other teams that have played them.
04:50Obviously, that's what they do really well.
04:51They get second chance points.
04:52They get points off of turnovers.
04:53We took care of the ball decently well.
04:56Didn't give them too many run out, just open points off of turnovers.
04:59So, thought we did that really well.
05:02And just our pressure and our tenacity,
05:04I felt like we weren't having to rotate and help as much
05:07because we were able to guard and keep people one-on-one in front of us.
05:11And I think we just had each other's backs.
05:13We're communicating.
05:13We switch up coverages and things that we were doing.
05:16And, you know, as somebody that's playing offense, like, that's hard, you know,
05:19when you're trying to run certain things and get different luck.
05:21And the defense is able to constantly switch because they're doing things really well.
05:25Like, that's hard as an offensive player to understand what looks you're going to be able to get.
05:29So, yeah, I thought we did all that really well.
05:31And, like I said, still a lot of room for improvement.
05:33So, that's the exciting part, too.
05:34So, that's a good point.
05:34Thank you.
