Google's announcement that it would no longer be a search engine to attempt the AI slop race has been met with serious criticism...and rightfully so. It's time to de-Google.
Transcript
00:08When the internet was at its peak in the late 90s, it felt like the stuff of the future.
00:13When Google was launched in 1998, it gave people a new way to access information easily and more efficiently.
00:20Now, however, Google is straying the way from what it was created to do to focus on trying to win
00:28the AI sloth rate.
00:29At the latest Google I.O. conference, which feels like something from an Orwellian dystopian story, by the way,
00:36Google announced they were essentially going AI first, with all of these harmful features, including changing the search engine completely.
00:44Instead of presenting links to many websites one can access to learn about something and potentially use as resources,
00:52Google will now focus on AI-generated prompts, courtesy of Gemini, which could not only provide misinformation and bias,
01:01but will also contribute to the continuing decline of human-made content and the decline of the quality of natural
01:07resources.
01:08And what's worse is that the Gemini responses will take existing information on the internet and claim it as its
01:16own.
01:16For the people who claim that generative AI improves the quality of learning, even before the rise of AI, plagiarism
01:25was still very frowned upon.
01:27People who did this had their lives ruined, kicked out of school, blacklisted from jobs.
01:33How is this any different from people who would copy from other authors without giving any credit?
01:40Generative AI companies like Google and OpenAI are evil in that they steal human-made creations to train their AI
01:49systems without giving the human creators anything in return.
01:53In fact, this is contributing to human creators leaving their passion projects behind.
01:59This is absolutely why I am against generative AI.
02:04It's an evil industry that does nothing good for anyone.
02:08And over on YouTube, a new feature allows users to steal other people's videos to add themselves in their videos,
02:15which further proves my point that AI is an industry built on creative theft.
02:19And this further confirms that my decision to leave YouTube was correct.
02:24I would be absolutely pissed off if some AI tech bro stole my content to say,
02:31Pusher Pro AI Agenda in my name.
02:34Which is already happening on DeviantArt, where an anonymous tech bro has opened an account in my name,
02:41and claiming that I support AI artists and that Whispering Woods, a project I had to abandon because of the
02:47AI epidemic, would be 100% AI generated.
02:51I may have to make another video exclusively on DeviantArt since that site changed for the very worst in light
02:58of this epidemic.
02:59But for now, I'll say this.
03:02Although we've used Google all our lives, it's time to stop.
03:06We should not continue using or supporting a company that puts profit over our environment,
03:12building data center after data center, while turning our clean water brown and worsening global warming.
03:19It's possible for us to de-Google.
03:22I'm not sponsored, but use DuckDuckGo, which still presents links to other online resources while not sharing or selling your
03:30data,
03:30and also allowing users to shut off their AI features.
03:35A good YouTube alternative is pretty hard to find, as most of them are filled to the brim with MAGA
03:40trash,
03:41but I settled with Dailymotion.
03:43It's not perfect, and it will be a long time before I can regain an audience,
03:48and it doesn't have all the features I need, but it smiles better than YouTube,
03:53especially since no AI slot features are forced upon Dailymotion users, and they actually respect fair use.
04:02Additionally, create a new email address.
04:05Use paper versions of docs, slidesheets, whatever it takes to abandon Google and give them a serious message.
