Interview with Michael Buckley
Transcript
00:00How long has an adaptation of the books been in the works?
00:04Have you wanted this since the beginning?
00:07Since day one, really.
00:09I mean, there was always somebody trying to adapt it.
00:13And some of those adaptations were good, and a lot of them were not.
00:18And then Amy came along, and she's the Sister's Grim Whisperer.
00:27She gets it.
00:28And so I didn't have to, you know, I could just take a breath finally over all this time.
00:34Because, you know, when you sign that option agreement, you know, what you can contribute anymore is really just like
00:41a lot of talk.
00:43A lot of times they'll say things like, oh, we want to be in the Michael Buckley business until you
00:47sign the contract.
00:48And then they would prefer if you just went away.
00:52And I was very happy that, you know, I tried to be as respectful and keep my distance.
00:58But I meddled, and Amy was sweet enough to put up with my craziness sometimes.
01:03But I do think that what she managed to shepherd together is an adaptation I'm very proud of.
01:14Very rarely do authors love the TVs and movies that are made of their work.
01:20But I will say in this case, I am genuinely overjoyed.
01:24I am genuinely overjoyed.
