Senator Sherwin Gatchalian has been elected as the new Senate President Pro Tempore and is now acting as the Senate President.

After two days of cancelled plenary sessions that left the Senate in uncertainty, the chamber resumed proceedings on Wednesday, June 3, after Senator Francis "Chiz" Escudero from the majority bloc unexpectedly arrived.
