00:02Malaysian police are hunting for the daughter of a 63-year-old woman arrested in Nigeria
00:06after she was allegedly caught trying to smuggle more than 30 kilograms of drugs into the country.
00:12The suspect was detained on the 17th of May by Nigeria's National Drug Law Enforcement Agency
00:17known as the NDLEA at Mutala Muhammad International Airport in Lagos.
00:23She had arrived on an Emirates flight from Thailand, traveling via Dubai.
00:27Investigators believe the woman traveled from Malaysia to Thailand first,
00:30before continuing to Nigeria, carrying two large bags containing 31 kilograms of Canadian loud,
00:36a high-grade cannabis strain.
00:38When questioned by authorities, the suspect claimed the trip was sponsored by her daughter
00:42and that she had spent approximately two weeks in Thailand
00:45before being handed the packages for delivery to Nigeria.
00:49Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department Director Datuk Hussain Omar Khan
00:54told Sinar Harian that his department had been notified by the NDLEA
00:58and has since launched its own investigation.
