02:31And he's kind of swimming around, getting into trouble, and then he kind of gets stuck
02:36in the middle of this, like, situation where he has to pretend to be a shark slayer.
02:42Oscar!
02:43Did you kill that shark?
02:45Aye.
02:46Yeah!
02:47Yeah!
02:47Yeah!
02:48Exactly how it looked!
02:49That's how it is!
02:50He didn't wait for a shark yet so much when they came together in the same moment.
02:54It was so much fun with that.
02:56He didn't wait for a shark slayer!
03:02Oscar and Lenny are a team, you know, and they become the closest of friends, most unlikely
03:10type of friendship between a shark and a tiny fish.
03:15You need to slay a shark, and I'm going to disappear.
03:18Here's what we're going to do.
03:19You put the two of these guys together in the movie, and you make one of them a fish and
03:23one of them a shark, and you have lots of common possibilities for how they can interact.
03:27Let me just tell you my situation.
03:30What?
03:30Um, you know what?
03:31Listen, um, I belated a tape recorder.
03:34Okay, and I'll leave it.
03:35I'll leave it here for you, and you tell me the stuff on the tape recorder.
03:38And you'll come back!
03:39And I'll come back!
03:40I don't believe you!
03:41Stay!
03:43Okay.
03:43Alright!
03:45Some of what ended up being the most successful stuff in the movie was, is that the candy
03:50and those recording sessions of the actors really got to play off of each other.
03:53Geez, Pop knew that he'd ice you for sure.
03:58Was he the godfather's album?
04:00Yeah, he is.
04:03Yes, Robert De Niro will portray my father.
04:07We auditioned a lot of people, and I just felt like, let's give this guy a break.
04:13He's got something.
04:15We're going to bring it out.
04:17He's like a piece of coal.
04:18If we squeeze him hard enough, it could be a diamond.
04:22We'll see.
04:23I'm stepping down as the dot.
04:26Lane and Frank are going to take over.
04:29Here's the head of the underwater.
04:32Don Lino.
04:33Your brother Frankie here?
04:34Yeah.
04:35He's in trouble.
04:36He's beautiful.
04:37He does what he's supposed to do.
04:39And you?
04:40I'm hearing things.
04:42One of the sons is a little...
04:44I can't resist seeing this fish eating.
04:47Whatever.
04:48Eat it.
04:49No!
04:49Have mercy!
04:50Hey!
04:51Don!
04:51Don!
04:52Don!
04:53Don!
04:53Don!
04:54Put the strip down...
04:55Don!
04:56Don!
04:57Don!
04:58Don!
04:58is a vegetarian, you know, it just, it just doesn't work. So when Lenny runs away from
05:04home and Lenny gets with Oscar, Don Lino is quite upset about that. I want to know everything
05:09about him. I want to know where he lives. I want to know where he sleeps. He pops a
05:12gill. I want to know about it. It's the shock slam. Robert De Niro is a great sport. He
05:18had absolutely no problem playing with his own image as a classic lobster type character.
05:25He had a lot of fun playing with the character Don Lino. You've got to always keep in mind
05:30what the goals are. You're right. And it's all been to prepare them for the day that I retired.
05:38Well, we finished. Today is that day.
05:48You've got to always keep in mind what the goals are at the same time. It's hard if you
05:52hit something. We get to the moments that are all worth it.
05:56Oscar, are you going to continue working here at the wash?
05:59Please, I'm barely working here now. Oscar works at the whale wash. And, you know,
06:04essentially, you know, the whales come in and you've got to clean the pump out the front of
06:09their tongues and all that stuff. She's gonna blow!
06:15Mr. Sykes owns the whale wash.
06:18Mr. Sykes is, uh, played by, uh, Mark Scorsese. He gets into a situation, Oscar, where he becomes
06:27a superstar. Based on his daughter, right? Jesus, eh, there he is. My brother, my player,
06:32the shark slayer. So, an opportunity to take Oscar under my head, so to speak, under my head.
06:39Uh, from now on, we're partners. You get 15, 70, 20, 75. 50, 50. You have to know. You have
06:47to know.
06:48I went to him one day and said, Marty, you know, you've probably never thought about this. I bet
06:53yourself that you actually have an incredible, incredible, uh, you know, voice and you speak in
06:59this way. And it's actually pretty funny. It's a pretty good way. And I showed him this
07:09puffer fish, and he just fell over laughing.
07:12Found that dog! Found it! Oscar!
07:15Mr. Sykes is an attempt to, uh, be a great deal of hip-hop. You can write, uh, vocabulary.
07:19Uh, raise the reef! Raise the reef, buddy!
07:21Mr. Uh, yeah, I'm supposed to say that he did those lines, and it just became, like, my favorite thing
07:26ever to write
07:27kind of goofy hip-hop lines more and see what he does. Oh, yeah, huh?
07:31Mr. Potts!
07:33Mr. Hey! Hey! What are you doing here?
07:37Mr. What, Oscar? Did you forget something?
07:39Mr. I don't know.
07:40Mr. Oh, have you forgotten?
07:41Mr. You're a shark!
07:43Mr. All right.
07:45Mr. Angie is Oscar's best friend who is desperately in love with him, and is the person who believes most
07:52in him,
07:53and always believes in him, even with his hair braiding schemes.
07:56Mr. This is, like, the best idea ever.
08:00Uh, why?
08:02Mr. Oscar, it's standing in Mr. Sykes' face with another one of your get-rich-quick schemes.
08:07Who does something you're actually good at?
08:09Mr. Your job!
08:11Mr. Push by some miracle you still have!
08:14Mr. Oscar decides that, um, he's going to tell a little bit of a hip-hop line,
08:19and be celebrated for having done something that he hasn't done, and at least it's quite a bit of trouble.
08:26Mr. I want to swear, sometimes I want to take your big dumb-dummy head and just...
08:31Mr. Renee is an amazing actress, and I could listen to her read the phone book.
08:37Mr. She brings this vulnerability to Angie.
08:40Mr. Your heart just breaks for her, you know?
08:42Mr. You know immediately how she feels about Oscar, and you know he's a big dope for not seeing you
08:47here today.
08:47Mr. Hey, hey, hey, Casanova.
08:50Mr. Nice switch, love the boy.
08:53Mr.다면 Dick's name on the guest game.
08:54Mr. Uh, his bride will be my son.
09:11What are you afraid of?
09:14I don't mind.
09:17But my character is quite shallow and a bit of a gold digger.
09:22And I pay no attention to him when he's nobody, but pay a lot of attention to him.
09:26Give somebody.
09:27You gotta come bust my meat friend, Angie.
09:29Uh, uh, keep my best, my men, Wadgie.
09:33Your best friend?
09:34Oh, that's sweet.
09:35So you won't mind the best win for a while, don't you?
09:39Uh, I was pretty forward.
09:43She's very, um, she's just, she's just on top of Oscar and every different, uh, she's just after him.
09:50She's, she's, uh, like you say, when you're fishing, someone just swims up to him.
09:54He's been swimming at him.
09:55Angelina really enjoyed this whole process of making the sound in the film.
10:00There's a wonderful back and forth that goes on.
10:02Our actors really collaborate on creating their characters.
10:05They really enjoy the kind of range they get to explore.
10:08They find the nuances in the character because we keep returning and they discover new things as well.
10:13So I think it's more and more, you know, the best actor and the most talented in every respect.
10:19I think it's fun to see people who have actually been great.
10:23And we have a lot of that, a lot of that rewarding creatively and being associated with something.
10:29It's just got great quality, you know, and it's, you know, some of the people who want to do that,
10:34it's fantastic.
10:35Where the animation is great because there's really so much freedom to create the scenes in a really fantastic kind
10:45of way.
10:46You know, where it's exactly what you would want to say or exactly what you would want to do in
10:54those moments.
11:03There are no limitations at all.
11:07None at all.
11:08They can do anything, anything, and they can take the story any way they want to go.
11:13Just, you know, I guess the boundaries are whatever the limitations of their imaginations are.
11:18And with these guys, they don't exist.
11:22Tell me you didn't make it all up yet.
11:23Tell me you're a real short sight of.
11:25Please.
