00:07you made there is just flat wrong.
00:11You start saying we're breaking the law, and you really start looking at it, and we're
00:14enforcing the laws that Congress did pass.
00:17That's reckless.
00:18When you start saying it's unconstitutional, what's unconstitutional that we're doing?
00:22We swore to uphold the Constitution, just like you swore to uphold the Constitution,
00:25for you to throw my 275,000 employees underneath DHS and with a broad stroke like that is
00:33reckless and irresponsible on your part.
00:36We're doing the job that Congress gave us the authority to do, and our men and women
00:42out there every single day is enforcing laws.
00:44If you don't like the laws, you can change them.
00:48We're not picking and choosing which laws we enforce.
00:50We're simply enforcing the law, period, full stop.
00:56When you throw out reckless terms, and you start referring to our agents as being dangerous,
01:09unconstitutional, and lawless, that's why our agents' death threats are up by 8,000%.
01:16I know that's not what you want, but your political theater, that's what it causes.
01:24When you start looking at assaults on our officers, they're up by 1,300%.
01:30Senator Murphy, is that what you want?
01:31I don't think it is.
01:32I really don't.
01:34But I understand the political theater.
01:35I understand wanting to get sound bites.
01:38And that was obvious because the whole time he was giving your testimony, he wasn't looking
01:40at me.
01:41He was looking at a camera.
01:42I get that.
01:43I get it.
01:44If you have bigger political ambitions, fine.
01:47Just say it.
01:49But don't do it at the expense of my officers.
01:52We want to really talk about funding.
01:55You haven't funded my officers.
01:56CBP and ICE has been willing to do the job for free.
01:59Why?
02:00Because of a reckless administration.
02:02Prior to President Trump coming in and saving America, you had a reckless administration
02:06that was destroying America by letting millions of illegals into our country.
02:11We're a nation of laws.
02:13And we're going to enforce those laws.
02:15What separates us from other countries is because people respect the rule of law.
02:19There's a reason why people are flooding to our country and not flooding to leave.
02:24And it's our job to protect the homeland.
02:26And we do that every single day.
02:29Every day I walk into that office, I feel so blessed that President Trump gave me this
02:33opportunity because I protect my backyard as hard as I protect your backyard.
02:37And I do it with pride.
02:39And every one of the employees, all 275,000 employees at DHS, they do it with pride too.
02:47And they don't separate a blue state from a red state.
02:50We look at it as a whole.
02:54But your reckless tone is getting people hurt.
03:00And it's got to stop.
03:03The fact that CBP and ICE hasn't been funded now for a historical amount of time is absolutely
03:11appalling.
03:12It should never happen.
03:14But yet we're playing political games.
03:18If your party is for open borders and an amnesty, then be honest.
03:24Because if ICE can't do their job, then who's supposed to be getting the legals out?
03:28That's what they are stood up to do.
03:30That's what Congress passed and gave them the authority and created the agency to do.
03:35If you don't want Customs and Border Patrol, and their job is to control our borders and the
03:41custom entry points, if you don't want them, then be honest with the Americans.
03:46American people and say, we want open borders.
03:50Don't sit there and accuse us of a bunch of stuff that you know yourself isn't true.
03:57Now, I'll go back to this.
03:59It's an honor to sit here in front of you.
04:04I take it with great pride to be Secretary of Department of Homeland Security.
04:09And I'm surrounded with great men and women every single day I walk into that office.
04:14Regardless of what you say or some other people say, we're doing a great job.
04:19And we have a zero-fail mission.
04:21And we take that to heart every day.
04:24And one of the people that I'm surrounded with is Troy Edgar, my deputy.
04:29I couldn't do my job without the people around me.
