00:06The performance of the actors is key in creating a character.
00:10You can serve as the visual side, but they're putting so much personality in their voice.
00:16Son! Son! I never thought I'd say this, but I think the sky is falling!
00:22Man, they let off.
00:24Stop the squawk and try to talk.
00:27Front of the little.
00:28I can't hear the pressure.
00:30Oh, they jeopardize submission and dangerous.
00:34Boxy-loxy.
00:35Present pretty and functional.
00:36Present pretty and functional.
00:38Chicken little.
00:39Tony again.
00:47A piece of the sky?
00:48Shaped like a stop sign?
00:50Okay.
00:51The sky was falling.
00:52We debated back and forth a lot about the voice.
00:55We needed a slightly older voice.
00:57With a little bit of edge.
00:58With a little bit of a teenage ring to it.
01:02Um, a leg.
01:04We hired Zach Ruff because he could talk faster than anybody we ever heard.
01:08No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
01:11Oh, thanks, guys.
01:13His portrayal of the character really kind of gives me an image in my head that I want
01:19to get onto the screen.
01:20Uh, yeah, um, I was thinking, um, what if I, what if I joined the baseball team?
01:27Really, son, baseball, aren't I sure?
01:30Yeah, yeah, I mean, you know, hey, why not, right?
01:32Buck is just overwhelmed.
01:34He's a single parent.
01:36Hello, give me a break.
01:37We cast Buck Cluck, uh, with Gary Marshall because we felt Gary Marshall was just great
01:42and angst.
01:43He was a beloved guy.
01:45Here's what we've tried.
01:46Principal, Principal Fetcher.
01:48Buck, Buck, please, Principal Fetcher.
01:49Principal Fetcher.
01:51May I call you Mr. Fetcher?
01:52Please, Principal Fetcher.
01:54Mr. Fetcher.
01:55Calm down, Fetcher.
01:56Come on.
01:56Are you making this up for me?
01:57What we wanted to do is make Chicken Little surrounded by really interesting characters
02:03that could help him on his path.
02:05Split into two teams.
02:06Popular versus unpopular.
02:08Woo!
02:09Foxy is sort of a mouthpiece of the town.
02:13Pop it up, pop it, pop it, pop it, pop it.
02:16She's another one where you can be starving the line and she will go and go and go and go.
02:22Woo!
02:24Let's play ball!
02:25She's kind of like the voice of the movie where she's constantly reminding Chicken Little
02:29of what a loser of who he really is.
02:34Shh!
02:35Keep it down.
02:35It's okay.
02:36Runt.
02:37Runt.
02:38Runt of the litter.
02:39I'm not a counterpart, Mr. Woolworth.
02:42He is the smallest one in his family and he just grew up with sort of an inferiority complex.
02:47Runt?
02:47What?
02:48I'm sorry.
02:48I'm very bad at reading facial cues.
02:50And Steve Zahn just nailed this character.
02:54Oh, my dear boy.
02:56Can he drive?
02:57Steve has an ability to make anything sound funny.
03:02He hits you through the siren?
03:05Oh, and go.
03:08Is that the right look?
03:09Well, you know, some of these characters are just funny to look at from the start.
03:12Oh!
03:14We wanted a character that wasn't fixated on beauty.
03:19And Beautiful Duckling says avoiding closure with your parents can cause early molting.
03:25See?
03:26Closure.
03:26Joan just brings a tremendous warmth to the character.
03:29She cannot read anything that doesn't feel sincere and real.
03:35So, all right, now you're on the run, JJ.
03:40You know, I, uh, I really love you.
03:44That's good.
03:45That's good.
03:45That's perfect.
03:46Fish out of water?
03:49And Fish is one of those characters that no matter what's going on, he finds a way to be happy
03:53about it.
03:56Quite.
03:56Fish was in and out of the story a number of times.
03:59We just felt that Fish provided a nice, a little, fun balance.
04:04And really, our editor, he's the voice of Fish.
04:07The voice actually is a voice that I used to do in my kids a lot.
04:12But now I apply it to level two and a water bottle.
04:16Say something!
04:17Don't tap the garage.
04:19They hate it when you do that.
04:19We have wonderful actors creating the voices for other roles in general.
04:23This is unbelievable.
04:24We have Don Knotts as Mayor of Turkey and Turkey.
04:27Oh, right.
04:30As the alien parents, we have Fred Willard and Captain O'Hare.
04:33Ah, they're good guys.
04:35They overreacted.
04:37We might have vaporized the whole planet.
04:39Oh, my goodness.
04:41Disney characters range from very real, believable characters to these wildly imaginative, magical characters.
04:48And a really important part in bringing those characters to life are the actors who create the voices.
04:54Thanks.
04:54What is it?
04:55Bye bye.
04:55Bye bye.
04:55Bye bye.
04:56Bye bye.
