00:00Well, let's get more on AI and TCM. Professor Dr. Song Kerr is founder and principal of the Asante Academy
00:06of Chinese Medicine in London.
00:09There are seen a few areas. I think AI can do lots of work.
00:14Number one, sort of training.
00:16And, you know, with AI, they can have all of the herbal medicine, acupuncture, points, locations,
00:24and the function of the herbs and the theory of medicine can be much better, easily explained,
00:32and also can be easily accessible. Many people can do themselves.
00:38And number two is, of course, the patient can be vastly benefit from the AI because there are lots of
00:47questions.
00:48People don't know. People can't find the answer.
00:52Therefore, that will improve the public, their confidence and also the knowledge about this Chinese medicine.
01:03So that will be increasing the market share.
01:06Because Chinese medicine, to be honest, as far as myself, it's been practicing in the UK 40 years this year.
01:13So I can see it's a great in demand, but it's difficult to find good doctors, good place,
01:21people learning, and also people to have a treatment.
01:25Technology can bring lots of positives, but it also can bring some challenges.
01:29What challenges could AI bring to the TCM world?
01:33If somebody feels unwell, let's say tired or weakness, and not necessarily ill.
01:39So if you purely use AI sometimes or use in a mechanical or mathematical way to analyze,
01:46you may not find too much problem, but people can be at the beginning of a problem field.
01:52And so therefore, there's Chinese medicine.
01:54So that's why it's a challenge.
01:56I don't know how can in the future, you know, that's what we call the AI is very good,
02:02but we still need so-called human touch because the human feeling and touch are outstanding.
02:09And that's also very, very important, and particularly for a Chinese doctor.
02:15What safeguards are needed to ensure that AI tools are reliable and are used responsibly?
02:23Well, I feel, I'm not an expert.
02:26I don't know what can do with legally safeguard, but in a Chinese medicine.
02:32So therefore, we need, on one hand, encourage.
02:34On the other hand, we need to make sure not only learn the figures,
02:39the location or the points or the medicine, how many grams,
02:43but more important to learn the philosophy, how we diagnose the problem
02:48and how this, how the illness can be treated as a whole.
02:54And that is why AI perhaps has to work very harder on this field to look,
03:01we call it holistically and to look, we call them, you know, everything sort of connections like as a whole.
03:08So that is perhaps, you know, the challenge for safeguard.
03:13Otherwise, people can, you know, using AI can misleading people
03:18or can miss sort of diagnose or miss some kind of points.
