00:01It was a Tuesday morning. I was a student at the University of Toronto and getting ready for class,
00:07saw the news out of the corner of my eye and it was the Twin Towers crumbling.
00:18The industry has changed incredibly. When I first joined IT, all men, you know I was always the only woman
00:26in the room.
00:27Now, today, when I go to conferences and things of that nature, I see more women.
00:34It was my experience at the United States Military Academy at West Point that introduced me into national security and
00:43protection of the country at large.
00:46I chose security and it chose me back and we've been choosing each other ever since.
00:53In my career, I have dealt with sexual harassment. I have dealt greatly with discrimination. I have dealt with violence.
01:03I have been assaulted.
01:05That is not because I'm a woman in the security profession, but just because I'm a woman, period.
01:12It was very important for me at the time to be successful and to be included and to be credible
01:20in the industry.
01:20So I worked probably harder than most people. I didn't want to focus on the fact I was a minority,
01:28which I was.
01:28But I see the challenge as an opportunity just to continue to shatter glass ceilings and inspire those coming in
01:35behind me.
01:38Thanks for joining me.
01:38Thanks for joining us.
01:39I'm one of the best friends that I am here.
01:48If you've never heard some piece of art, talk to me.
01:49I will love you.
