00:01Artificial intelligence company Anthropic is moving toward going public on Wall Street,
00:06announcing that it has submitted a confidential filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission
00:11for a proposed initial public offering of its common stock.
00:15It marks the latest chapter in the meteoric rise of the five-year-old maker of the Claude chatbot,
00:20becoming one of the world's most valuable startups valued at $965 billion.
00:27Anthropic now has vaulted ahead of its chief rival, chat-GPT maker OpenAI,
00:32not only in market value and reported revenue, but also on the path to becoming a publicly traded company.
00:39Anthropic was formed in 2021 by ex-OpenAI executives, and now both AI firms are expected to become publicly traded.
00:47But both have been losing more money than they make, fueling concerns of an AI bubble.
00:52Claude's growing popularity has left OpenAI playing catch-up despite its early lead in making chat-GPT a household name
