00:20The RWC software that Language Conservancy has developed
00:24uses these categories, these domains,
00:29and the elders are brought together in groups of three or four.
00:33There might be ten groups working across the different,
00:37at the same time in a project,
00:39and they're given a topic like things you might find in the kitchen.
00:43And if we all sat around and talked about and listed all the things you would find in a kitchen,
00:48we might find 30 or 40 things.
00:50And each of those things are recorded, typed out, and put into the database,
00:56and it's aligned with the audio recording as well.
01:10I'm really excited and I'm really happy to see this dictionary
01:15because I am a second learner,
01:20like, Heltan is my second language that I'm learning.
01:23And so I'm really excited for this
01:27because there's so many gaps that I have in my own language learning journey,
01:34so having this dictionary is going to really help me to learn more
01:39and to expand my vocabulary and, yeah.
01:49Technology has helped us leverage and helped us save languages faster than ever before.
01:55For example, we can now do a dictionary for a community from scratch in 12 months,
02:03whereas it used to take 20 years to be able to do that.
02:06And so that's incredible and that's super important.
02:09That allows us to serve languages quickly
02:12and build that infrastructure that they need to be able to survive moving forward.
02:17I love the technology aspect of it.
02:19You know, I think we do need to be careful as far as, like, how things are handled,
02:24you know, how they're distributed,
02:25and who has control over certain properties of language.
02:27But I really do think it's a big help for most tribes.
02:30You know, we can record things a lot quicker
02:32and hold on to things for a lot longer than we could before.
02:35So I enjoy it.
